I recently noticed they now have videos on their YouTube channel explaining each and every seed they have for sale. it should come in real handy for anyone who needs to cover a specific problem area such as soil that is too dry, too wet, too shady, too alkaline, Etc.

Depending on your location, they can ship a pallet fairly cheap. I got a quote to get one from Nebraska to Wisconsin for $100. Not a bad deal if they're the only place that has what you're looking for.

I sent an email request for their free catalog this AM. Got a reply this PM and the request was transferred to their department that handles these items. Pretty good customer service for sending a free guide. I will have to add this company to my favorites list and keep them in mind for seed purchases.

Have you played with the SmartMix calculator on their web site? I love that thing.

No, but thanks for the heads up. It is something I will look into ASAP.

I have but can you change the % of seed per species? I can’t seem to find an option to do that and I don’t like that it automatically assumes you are going to plant the same amount of each seed. It was acting up a bit when I was using it so that may have been why I didn’t see it. Seed price is kinda high if you aren’t buying a lot but they do have some pretty neat mixes already configured for a fair price. I may call them about some of those blends to determine the C/N ratios.

The niche those guys fill is unique seeds. Lots of places you can get grains, brassicas, clovers, corn, and beans. But if you want specific stuff like faba beans, forage collards, bulk squash seed, certified group 7 conventional soybeans for $20/bag, mung beans, or sweet clovers, they're the place for me.

Even certified forage cereals are getting easier to find. I just ordered up seed from my local guys and got forage barley, forage winter wheat, and forage oats for cover crop prices.

There is a button for "Smart Mix Auto Adjust". Turn that off and you can tell it how many pounds per acre you want to plant. It also tells you how many seeds there are.

I will say that I liked the old SmartMix calculator better than this new version. It's still an excellent tool, but why is it that websites always have to be "improved"? I can't tell you how many sites get a makeover just for the sake of changing it. I-Tunes and I-Photo, and tons of others that get "improved" usually suck afterward.

Just received this in the mail......great read

Thanks,Tap for the link

man I like the look of the faba beans, and their 40 seed mix......... wonder if the faba could handle early browse? https://www.greencoverseed.com/product/1013/
I put faba beans in a mix or sunflowers, cowpeas, and sunn hemp. My deer ate everything except the faba. I won't plant them again.

wow, your deer are picky............ maybe I'll try a smaller batch

Just watched this video.

They're offering a "Plot in a Box". It contains 25 varieties of either cool season or warm season covers, enough for 1,000 square feet of each(.5 acres total), and signs for each variety. The box costs $100 with shipping included, but if you record a virtual tour of your test plot, they'll credit you back the $100 for future purposes.

that is interesting, free shipping makes it not bad, going to watch the video. and think about it. I got the perfect half acre to test it in, nice and sunny, not too dry. Just watched, they don't mention but a few of what is there. looks like a phone call for tomorrow.
