Morse Nova Scotia Crab

Anyone have a well producing Morse Nova Scotia Crab? I have one that I planted about 7 years ago, great growing tree, probably 18' tall now. Doesn't produce squat. Seems like it puts out a good amount of blossoms each spring, but drops fruit all summer long, so there is near nothing left by fall. What fruit is there is usually deformed and ugly.

Was supposed to be a grafted tree but now wondering if it was a seedling that came up short on desirable genetic traits.

We have a NS crab at camp. A Morse Nursery tree from 2013. No complaints here at all, gunfun. It's been a really good tree for us - nice shape, good crotch angles, good fruit. Apples are about 2" in dia. Sept. and Oct. dropper. I don't know what grafting / skills the newer owners have.

We also have a boat-load of other apples & crabs for pollination of all our trees. What's your pollination situation?

This tree was bought during the Charlie era, it's grown great. Crop is just abysmal when compared to my other crabs. Pollination shouldn't be an issue, has a Liberty directly on one side and a Kerr on the other.

The pic on their site shows fruit growing in clusters, I have have single apples scattered through out...and not many for the size of tree.

I have two Nova Scotia from Charlie bought in 2011 .The fruit does not grow in clusters. They’re normally decent producers. This year we had a cold spell for a couple weeks when they we’re in bloom and they have very little fruit.

Thanks Marlin, hopefully just a conditions issue and it comes around. Last year was a late frost, another year I sprayed insecticide while in bloom (learned my error after it was too late). Forgot about the cool weather this spring, explains why many of my apples didn't produce what I expected. Pears though, huge crop this year.
