Oldest grandsons first shroom hunt.



In the last week and a half we have found around 600, some grays, a nice bunch of yellows and a ton of half frees…all at the Little Woods.

Found some after work around Des Moines, IA. Need a rain!

Found about 5 pounds today around Des Moines. They are about done in central Iowa. Southern Wisconsin and Minnesota should be prime starting this weekend. Good luck!

How long after a good rain would it take? I found a few decent looking grays a couple days ago and no yellows. We've been dry. Finally got rain last nt. Thinking hoping the yellows haven't come yet.

If you’re in N. Illinois, I would say only a day or two at this point. But every year is different- I found 35 pounds or so in the same spot last year and this year I’ll only take out 9-10. Some years will just be bad overall because of freezing or drought conditions leading up to and during the season.

We had a month without rain and guys where finding morels so I now question wether rain even matters

Wife and I found around 100 this morning at the little woods, few yellows, half a dozen grays and a bunch of half frees.

Found about 50 last thursday and another 6 or 7 today.

Yellows are usually the last to start popping here, although this year we have gotten a lot of overlap with the cool temps.

I used to live east of Des Moines just outside of Maquoketa, that’s where I was born. Best mushroom hunting ever when I was a kid, the Dutch elm disease had just gone through and we used to find paper grocery sacks full of huge yellows.

Found a handful today. First successful hunt.

One of my best days yet. My son and I found 92 south east WI. New record under one tree (37).

Ran into this guy over the weekend. Sure would like to know what he’s feeding them! Couple were 13”.
