Black Nightshade

Black Nightshade

Anybody know if gly will take out Nightshade? I have it bad in a field that was rye last fall. I hit it with 2qt/ac today, hope it gets it.

It does for me but slowly.

That's good. I was prepping some ground for my Labor Day Weekend rye planting. Slow is fine...

Interesting that this plant (black nightshade) is edible. The berries even taste a little tomato like. NOT to be confused with deadly nightshade (Belladonna) which could kill you.

My understanding is that the foliage and green fruits contain toxic alkaloids, but the ripe fruits are "probably" edible to humans. My fear would be that it could be a plant that hybridized with another nightshade, and I would be unsure about the safety of the berries. I hear people talk about seeing some deer browsing on nightshade leaves, but I've not see it here.
