Little Pup thinks it's already a Big Dog

Here's my chestnut crab. Just planted this spring.
As soon as the surrounding trees are done blooming, I'll pinch these.
Sure does make a guy optimistic though!

My Big Dog, Hewes, and I think Dolgo all bloomed this year all planted earlier this spring. I was surprised and pleased hoping it was a sign of good things to come from those trees. Time will tell.

Have had several XL nursery trees bloom the same year as planted. The kind of trees too big to ship so one must be close enough to the nursery or a distribution site to pick up. The next couple of years they seem to settle in their roots and flower much less if any but later on bloom every year.

These have all been grafted crabapples so not sure if regular apples would be as vigorous in growth and bloom habits.
