In different climates, you never know how they will do.I think Big Dog likes living in KY for sure. Very, very clean and fruiting nicely for a young tree.

Please let me know what drop time is.
Most years, drop starts about Oct. 25 for me. Last year we had a drought and heat, and drop started much earlier.
I have pruned lower limbs so I can mow with the rider under it.Sandbur,
Im assuming big dog is zone 3 friendly being at your place? Also, that big dog tree with snow in the picture from 2021, think you could take another pic of it. Be nice to see what 3 years does to trees of that age.
Had a big dog on order in 2023, but had to cancel when I tore my bicep.
Will try and remember to get a picture.I have pruned lower limbs so I can mow with the rider under it.
Dang Native, that thing is huge for something planted 3 years ago as a whip!
You should see the Galarina on Dolgo that I planted last spring - it is over 9 feet tall right now and has 4 big apples on it. Yes, I know I should pull them off on a young tree, but I can't help myself....
I will say that not all of the trees I have gotten from him have grown that well, but all have grown very good, with about 1/3 of them putting out super growth like you see above. Also, I did have one to die. I'm suspecting that I accidentally got some gly on it, but I can't say for sure. I recall spraying something nearby, so that may be it.
We just don’t have the length of growing season up here in the north. Deer recovering from the stress of winter or talking about growth of apple trees both have a disadvantage.Mine haven't grown like that from any vendor but that's just a soils and climate thing I think.
