Later to Leaf out / later to bloom Apples.

Borthern spy get cedar rust. Fyi, m111 rootstock is 3/4's northern spy.

Interesting that a number of years ago was always Enterprise, Freedom, and Liberty mentioned as the cool kids on the block for people/wildlife apples. Don't see Freedom mentioned much at all last 5 yrs. Been bumped by Galarina in most postings. Just wondering why Freedom kicked to the curb. Don't have any so no experience from me.

I don't really like the supermarket Gala apple so convince me if Galarina is different enough to try.
My cousin killed a 12 year old buck searching for apples under this tree last Early October. It was loaded last year and was loaded with blossoms this year.IMG_3718.jpegimagejpeg_0.jpegIMG_4115.jpeg

Is that tree that your cousin killed his buck under, a Freedom apple?

For any of us on here, some DR apple trees do better in some regions of the country than in other places. For instance, Goldrush is a great apple for us in NC Pa. and seemingly other northern locations - but Native Hunter reports that Goldrush gets CAR pretty bad in Ky. - as do other more southern guys on here. Freedom may do very well in some regions, and not so much in others. That's true of other apple trees as well. If Freedom does well in some locations - that's great for those gents. I mentioned on page 2 of this thread, that I read in an article that Freedom wasn't living up to the DR hype it was reported to have. But that was just one article, and that info may not hold true everywhere. If Freedom works where you are - great!

It’s a Galarina on B118

That's a cool old buck. Is that a tumor on its ribcage or just an odd angle from the picture?

Yes. Either a tumor or just a fatty ball like some Labs get in old age. He also had osteoporosis.

Gave an enterprise on M7 to a guy at camp. He told me last month the tree didn't make it.... Just takes a bit longer to wake up. He also has crossbow on anty maybe m111. That woke up a bit better than the average crabapple. Still shocked how early AWHO woke up, debating not propogating it anymore. 30-06 seems to be a later to bloom crabapple for me. Liking it more each year.
