Jeep projects

Dry body fit doesn’t look to bad I’ll look it over more tomorrow before pulling the tub back off to paint the frame and repair the body mount nuts on the tub side . The tub where the body mounts where is pretty bad I won’t get to crazy repairing it but I’ll do a little something to strengthen it back up and give me something to weld the nuts to body for the bolts had to torch cut nearly all of the body mount bolts off.

Nice workmanship on your build!

I’m waiting on parts now I knew the rubber spring bushings would likely need replaced and after having to torch cut several of the bolts to get them off I ordered a complete set of bushings and new shocks. Really it likely could use new springs but I can replace them latter if I don’t get this thing back together ASAP I’ll have all sorts of lost parts floating around my shop.

Engine, transmission, transfer case, exhaust all back in and the transmission belly pan/skid plate installed. I may try and set the tub tomorrow.

Fascinating. This is all new to me.
I've never worked on an automobile indoors before. 😄

Doing a great job!
But... I'm still struggling with the idea of building from the ground up without throwing a stud of an engine in it and a functioning lift. If I was to go to that much work I'd sure want it to be more in the end.

Quite a project. Nice work!

Just my middle boys daily driver I didn’t want to turn this into a long drawn out build project he has been driving a minivan since we started this frame swap project and he wants his jeep back pretty badly. I did make the new motor mounts just bolt in so doing a SBC swap or something like that pretty easy in the future.

I did add 3” of lift in the new frame so it did get lifted with this project and I no longer have to worry about the junk frame.

It's been a few days. Still running good?

Yes do have a fuel leak coming from on top the tank so maybe a loose hose connection or something idk have drop the tank and see maybe tomorrow and this has nothing to do with my frame swap but we noticed the fan pulley is about 1/2” or more farther out from the engine than all the rest of the belt pulleys are so only half the belt is riding on the fan pulley squeaks and makes a lot of noise I may take that apart tomorrow also try and figure out why it’s like that we never did anything with the fan so this is something someone else has done to the engine.

Fuel leak was a lack of proper tension on the hose clamps on top the fuel tank or we forgot to tighten them at all. lol The water pump that was on the jeep was a for a 2.5L mine has a 4.0L The pumps are identical except the 4.0l is about a half inch shorter so I just bought a new water pump and put it in today the one that was in there had 2014 date code so someone had swapped that pump out and drove it a long time before we found it.

So you took a Jeep down to the frame, made a new frame, put it all back together... and you only left one clamp loose? Bravo!!!

Nice job. That frame will far outlast the rest of it.

Nice work there.

That 77 maverick keeps driving around in my head, and its still for sale.
