Not applicable to me. I would never pursue something that is unreachable. Thats called setting yourself up for failure. I am all for striving for excellence. Am I missing something here?
I don't think that you're "missing" anything, as it's something that is personal. For example, I would say that, for me, attempting something that I think I can't do tests my abilities and pushes me to be better than I thought I was, OR reinforces that I need to do more work. I would say that only attempting things that I know I will win drastically limits my potential. I would say that if I were to not attempt something because I thought I would fail, then I would be letting fear of failure control my life. Now, this isn't to say that I am going to go and bet my entire life savings on me becoming an NFL lineman. This is just how I interpreted it. I don't want to say that I'm correct in my thinking, and equally importantly that you are wrong in yours, because there is no singular correct way to think about this stuff. Everyone approaches things differently, and that's the beauty of life!
