Is it Baltimore or Fergeson?

Once again I'b bet most of the rioters are unemployed and have nothing better to do. Time to institue all rioters will be shot on site.

The last 3 cop incidents were murder. Is rioting the answer? No but how much can anyone take with this bs?
I havnt really kept count of the incidents but hope your not referring to officer Wilson in ferguson. Brown got what he asked for in that incident. Tough to Monday morning quarter back these deals but my gut tells me these Baltimore cops are in some serious trouble

I don't think NoFo is speaking to ferguson. Somewhere a rent a cop thought he pulled his taser and shot a guy in the back with his pistol.

SC a cop shot a guy and killed him while he was running away (on tape). Shouldn't have run but not a shootable offense.

Baltimore sounds really bad to me. The police said the guy looked at them funny and ran so they chased him down and threw him in the van. Went in healthy came out paralyzed with a broken neck and died a week later.

no excuse to burn and pillage your own neighborhood but I can see where it would get old if you were a part of that community. (And I'm no bleeding heart)

As always, I try to find humor in everything I can. Watching the news it was reported that members of the gang, "the black gorilla family" pledged to cause trouble and target police. If I used those words to describe the same group of men I'd be on the front page of the huffington post being stoned by liberal America for intolerance.

You can't make this stuff up.

If you want to lower the odds of becoming another "victim"; Don't Fight the Police, Don't Resist the Police, and Don't Run from the Police!

I believe it is "guerilla", but that doesn't make it any better.

Sad. What is happening to this country?

I would agree bueller. And if you are one of those poor, unfortunate, "innocent" souls that is constantly "harassed" by being stopped and questioned frequently by police that I hear about all the time, there are ways to go about combating that, other than running away or resisting the officer/s doing the stop. Most LEO's are just doing their job, and that includes checking out any sketchy $h!t that might be going on, no matter how "innocent" it looks to the average person. Take for instance the recent situation where the young officer refused to shoot the guy that was advancing on him even after repeated requests by the officer for him to stand down, that young officer could very well have gotten killed in that situation. If he would have, it wouldn't have even made the news other than on the local channels. BS and sad!

The Mayor out there is an idiot too saying during a news conference before yesterday's riots that they need to give space to those that want to destroy. Huh? You need to give those that wish to destroy a heavy dose of tear gas ASAP. When a riot starts it is not the time for hugs and kisses. It is the time to put it down by heavy handed tactics or else you lose control quickly and your city burns.

No win situation. The Fegerson mayor was criticized for having too heavy of a hand in controlling the protests.

I am a firm believer that these scum bag thugs would put them self in the position to be shot at some point of there life. They just got moved up on the death list.

I would hate to be a Cop in this day and age. Could not pay me enough with all these disrespecting thugs around.

Good thing I'm not in charge. If I was i would break out the tear gas, pepper balls, bean bag shotguns and rubber bullets as soon as the protesters started throwing rocks.

Seeing the video of the police retreating under a hail of rocks makes me sick. That just empower the rioters.

A large number of the black community welcome this kind of chaos and rioting. It's hard to not form stereo-type ideas about such a wide-spread problem in the black community. Where is the President, Al Sharpton, and the NAACP......WHEN the problems are building? Later they will point to all the defects in the system.

Lots of white and black folks get mistreated or abused everyday by the Police. Nothing is perfect.....and mistakes happen. Many in the Black Community are looking for a cause to riot, loot, and destroy stuff. IMO

If I was born with a different skin color and was raised in poverty in the inner city.....and likely didnt know who my daddy is.....and didnt have much promise (etc etc). x Then I might find an excuse to be there looting an robbing with my buddies. Still....that would just make me a thug.

The real issue is that FAMILY values have eroded so far in America that were going to continue seeing this behavior. Family values are diminishing faster and faster....and our society seems destined to allow more erosion of these principals every year. Shame on us for allowing these values to erode.

ME THINKS WE NEED A LITTLE MORE OF THIS!

http://6abc.com/news/video-angry-baltimore-mom-beats-son-suspected-of-rioting/684791/

Scr#w the National Guard, they need a group of angry black women up in there!

Hold the parents responsible who are not this willing to keep track of and discipline their own children. Apparently she wasn't afraid to beat his a$$ in public! It isn't child abuse when the little ba$tard$ deserve it! But then again, some d0*chebag that should be minding their own d#mn business will probably report her to Child Protective Services for abuse.

You hit the nail on the head with the disintegration of family values or families in general. If you look at the percentage of two parent families for whites and blacks pre-WWII they were similar with whites having a slightly higher percentage. If you compare that percentage today the two parent black family has almost disappeared. If you correlate the decrease in two parent black families with the significant increase in welfare and social benefits you can see a very strong correlation. Couples don’t have to stay together if government pays for their income and instead provides incentives for those with less income.

My issue with all of this is there is plenty of evidence that these programs are teaching the wrong lessons to our citizens but we still won’t change. The party that has controlled the country for 70+ years is interested in dependents not thinking productive citizens who don’t need government assistance.

If I were king for a day what would I do, mandatory work projects like RPA for the chronic unemployed, Cap of 3 years on welfare, drug testing of everyone on government assistance and drug testing of all government employees. Anybody caught on drugs loses their welfare or government jobs.

He is just one man brother. A puppet on a string IMO... the ideology that he stands behind and the ersosion of family values as Foggy refers to above on top of pushing God out of of lives is what I fear will turn us into the next Rome. Scares me to think about what my boys may have to deal with in their adult lives.. But I have faith that Good will prevail over evil

I don't really have much of an opinion on this, as I know absolutely nothing about how it feels to be in that situation. I'd love to say that I wouldn't act this way, but I honestly don't know. I've grown up, whether I like to admit it or not, with a tremendous amount of privilege. I have had things that a lot of people would dream of having (everything from a solid family structure, to little to no student debt). In no way does this mean that I haven't had to work my butt off for what I've got, but I'd be extremely naive to think that others haven't had to work harder, and I don't mean because of their own physical abilities.

As far as Sharpton and the NAACP, they are jokes (as are most political figures), but the issues that they represent are not. It's very easy to spot a racist, but spotting racism, especially structural or systemic, is not so easy. It is not, dare I say it, black and white, and not right or wrong. That would be like me thinking that when someone says I've been privileged it means that they are saying that I haven't worked hard to get where I am. The two aren't mutually exclusive. Similarly, when someone talks about race and how I, as a member of society, am part of a system that is not equal, doesn't mean that they are saying I'm racist, just that a system such as that is in place. I truly think that this is why a lot of people, mainly white, get upset or defensive when people talk about racism. I used to think that racism is binary (yes/no, did/didn't), which it isn't. When we think it's binary, we assume that if we acknowledge it, it means that we have automatically committed a direct act. It's almost as if we (again, at least in my own experience, and how I used to think) see it as some sort of self-incrimination.

For me it helps a lot to realize that issues such as these are not new, and are most likely as old as society. These issues aren't unique to the U.S., nor this generation. Inequalities have been present for a very long time, and in a very diverse range of societies. We've never been perfect, but saying we never will be precludes us from any chance of achieving equality. Just as this stuff didn't arise quickly, although it might manifest itself in new ways, it won't be solved quickly. Personally, whenever stuff like this comes up I think of a quote by the late Eduardo Galeano. He was 100% a crazy political "leftist", which I don't think is inherently bad, but what really sticks out to me is that this is applicable to everyone. If we say it's the best it can be.... we'll never work, and never know if it can actually be better.
“Utopia lies at the horizon.
When I draw nearer by two steps,
it retreats two steps.
If I proceed ten steps forward, it
swiftly slips ten steps ahead.
No matter how far I go, I can never reach it.
What, then, is the purpose of utopia?
It is to cause us to advance.”

Not applicable to me. I would never pursue something that is unreachable. Thats called setting yourself up for failure. I am all for striving for excellence. Am I missing something here?
