I'm the wrong guy to ask about rates. I read the label. Study the conditions. Decide what risk I'm willing to take and what level of disbelief and shame I want to endure, LOL!? I have unwantedly killed many clover plants and have saved countless others! My Imox war story is from several years ago. Old clover about to be overrun with grass and weeds. It was late July. I wanted good clover for fall archery. Imox was new to me. It took a while to figure it out. It's got an "industrial" use label. If my memory is correct I used the equivalent of 10-12 oz per acre mixed with crop oil at an order of magnitude greater than recommended. I wasn't afraid to lose the clover 'cause it was about to be over run anyhow. I don't recommend that in normal situations. Established clover with deep roots can stand a lot of abuse. You just need to decide how much you want to dish out. What rate and how did it fo on the smartweed? I've got a few perennial clovers patches that the smartweed is starting to creep into maybe ~25% of the plot and was looking for a solution. I have some imox left yet, but didn't know if it would be better to apply before the smartweed comes on and use the residual or try to spray the smartweed when growing (understanding its hard to kill).
So, listen to the fellows about about rates and application timing.
