I was afraid of that. I'll probably still go for it, just knowing I may not get a winter cereal crop. I can always come back and try forage barley in the following spring at at heavy rate. And if that still doesn't work, there's always japanese millet in June. The strict and literal read of any label for any of the herbicides in the family of imidazolinones would indicate the answer to your first question is no and to the second, none. But if you can live on the edges you could probably do fall planted wheat after a spring application of Imox. The published half-life of the herbicide ranges from 14 days to nearly 200. It depends on soil caracteristics, pH, soil organic matter, seasonal rainfall. Is wheat doable? I would have a hard time betting the farm in production ag, but for habitat? Depends on your risk tolerance. To your second question, when you say “right after” I take it to mean days after the herbicide application and I would say I don’t know. It seems doubtful.
How long would you have to wait after a spring application of Imox to overseed with clover and chicory? I have a “getting too weedy” field that still has a decent clover base that I want to seed into with additional clover varieties. Also, could you plant brassicas into the same field in say August if you sprayed in mid April? Or would a more concentrated mowing program be better?

Really wouldn’t have to wait long at all. I use imox to clean up clover and chicory. I also use as preplant for summer legumes either before or right after planting. How long would you have to wait after a spring application of Imox to overseed with clover and chicory? Imox has a pretty short residual. I’ve planted grains in fall after spring spraying of imox or pursuit and they grew great.
I actually posted my fall fields today @SD51555. All of those were sprayed with 4oz of imazethapyr in late May and the rye and clover are growing like gangbusters. Imazethapyr has about double the half life of imox too.View attachment 86211

Right. I can see that problem. I would stay away from imazethapyr if you wanted a fall grain planting. But I think you’d be fine with Imox a month or two later. Except maybe for brassicas, but my guess is they would do fine too.Up near @SD51555 spring plantings are May-June and "Fall" plantings are July-early Sept.

I missed the part where you said imazethapyr rather than imox. My bad.Right. I can see that problem. I would stay away from imazethapyr if you wanted a fall grain planting. But I think you’d be fine with Imox a month or two later. Except maybe for brassicas, but my guess is they would do fine too.
They are pretty interchangeable in their action. One just lasts about twice as long.I missed the part where you said imazethapyr rather than imox. My bad.
