My turnips and RR sugar beets have remained untouched by the deer. I am near Almond in Portage county WI. A farmer left up a 10 acre corn field just a 40 away from my land. I do believe this is an abnormal year where the local deer herd has too many food choices. So far the winter has been rather mild with no snow cover to speak of. Now my dwarf essex rape and winter rye are just being devoured by the deer.
Yeah, all of my deer are looking great right now. We've had some really cold weather, but not too much snow. A good winter for them so far. Another 60 days and they are in the clear.
And I'm going to plant more of them next year. They have really gotten a lot of nutrition out of that field this winter. And so far it seems to last for a long time.
