Not sure how many are following but a major hurricane is close to hitting Florida. It is targeted to hit in the panhandle somewhere near the big bend area. It is at CAT 3 strength now and moving quickly to CAT 4 level when it hits land tonight. CAT 4 means winds of 120-156 mph and potential storm surges of 20'. About as devastating storm as you can have and not survivable if you cannot get out. We have property near the area of the storm path.

Please say a prayer for all those down there especially the first responders for their safety.

@bigbendmarine is right there I believe

Think he’s in the red hills area by Tallahassee? Probably a pretty bad place to be. We are supposed to get 4-7” of rain and 40-60 mph winds but I’m sure its sensationalized this far north. I threw seed yesterday in anticipation so western ky is guaranteed to miss it.

I always took it the big bend in his name was from the big bend area where that sucker is headed. He has had hurricane trail cam pics in the past I believe. Tough deal…

lemons to lemonade LOL!

Have owned down there for 4 years ... 3rd hurricane we have dealt with.
I bought a place in 2003 when I was 35. The first fall after we closed 3 came through Okeechobee, Charlie did a number on me. Nothing ever since, to speak of.

NOAA has now upgraded storm to CAT 4 with current sustained winds of 130 mph. 🤪😣

@bigbendmarine is right there in Florida's Big Bend. keeping him in thoughts. My brother is in Cape Coral and said the water is getting pretty darn high.
Glad I sold my place there, got tired of this crap every year or two.

Our place is in Indian Rocks, but it's a 4th floor condo with hurricane shutters. While the area may receive some flood damage, our place should be fine. Still tracking it since it will be here in my backyard tonight.

Tampa/Clearwater breaking all time high water records and the storm was way offshore from them 😱

This is one large storm. Continues to pick-up intensity and moisture as it moves through the gulf towards land. It is rotating counter clockwise so it is pushing water into all of the bays and rivers.

Thoughts for everyone. Especially our friends here, including bigbend, tree spud, and Bill's brother. Hard to believe that sometimes living in illinois has its perks.

Not sure I could handle the drama each year. After looking for some time in FL.....we decided that AZ was more our style. No regrets. Good luck to those FL land owners.....hope you can dodge this bullet.

There is one couple that lives in the condo next to ours year round and said we had about 1' in the parking deck, but it is elevated 3' above the road which of course was flooded.

We have had roughly 7" here at the house with wind around 30, and gusts up to 45. My property east of us had less rain, but have had winds around 40 with gusts up to 65.

Edit: we are getting much stronger wind now.

Hope everyone stays safe. Every time I see these things come through, I think 20 below isn't so bad. LOL

We have an aunt that lives near Ashville, NC. When we went to bed last night she texted the family that they already had gotten 13” of rain with plenty more forecasted. Had a foot of water in their basement already…
