Hunting with higher temps

Apparently the tree I was in had the tastiest acorns this am. 3 does with 5 button bucks spent over a half hour under and around my tree.

5 button bucks! That's good to see huh?

Its hot out here in the sun. Hopefully something comes to feed on these greens this afternoon. Either way feels great to be out for the first time of the season.

It's fairly common for the area. I don't know what causes it but the buttons far outnumber the doe fawns here. I've seen the trend from day one of owning my property. Stu had a reason for it but I can't remember what he said.

It had something to do with your water. Too many single phase generated bubbles. And if you ate fish from it you would start balding early in life. Thats paraphrased but almost exactly what he said.

I am hunting on Arts and I have shot 4 pheasants so far. 3 hens and one rooster. Saw a couple other guys in trees so just sat down on the fence line.
You don't know the difference between pheasants and turkeys. Those were turkeys. Shootém all!

Just a minute-did they have an all white head?

Mostly white heads.

They were on the bait just like you said they would be.

We ended up with a limit of pheasant. Delicious.

Those chicken manure piles make darn good bait for dem turkeys.

Neither of the kids saw anything from stand. Of course the wife and I watched a couple does and a buck eat in the plot by the house at the same time. Gotta figure out a stand in that area
Mzzle loader on the roof?

Congrats on letting the kids hunt first. I hope at least one of them has success. That is what it's all about.

Couldn't sleep at all last night, so I went back to bed at dawn instead of hitting the woods.

Acorns are everywhere here. Gotta be a bumper crop.

Only one nubby for me all weekend. Had 6 deer in the big plot Friday night while I was driving up.

Thanks for sharing Jeff, looks like good times were had by all. I would hate to be those kid's parents now, every time they turn around it will be, "Mom, dad, we want to go back to Uncle Jeff's next weekend too!"

They drive so ssllloooooowww the dog walks backwards?

Did you consider that the young gal is backing up and the dog is going the right direction? She is just taking time for a photo op and looking at the camera. ;)

Uncle Jeff is starting to freak me out some as they work on backup skills with elderly folk at risk. But to each his own. Maybe he has them insured for $BILLIONS?!

It's a new breed of headless dog. Takes less food and does not bite. Clean up after him is twice the work, tho. Neutering costs double.

Good job with the kids, Jeff!

Jeff is your Uncle?

I'm sending him a sympathy card!

Good to see you are spending some family time and getting kids in the outdoors. Nice to see you have your prioritizes in place. I knew you did. Are you biding your time waiting for the perfect wind to go after your nicer bucks you have on camera? I hope to hit the woods soon. Darn home construction projects are getting in the way and traveling for work.

Don't blame the dog! Jeff taught her how to drive the 4 wheeler and are you surprised that she runs it backwards?:D
