Health and Wellness

Please tell me you are saying AAAAARRRRGGGG every chance you get!!!!!🤣

What water filtration system do you use? Seems nothing is safe to drink anymore. Can't drink city water, well water, bottled water in plastic. Recently read 90% of the microplastics in our bodies came from bottled water. I have a Pur container in my fridge I use for drinking, but it's plastic. Cooking and coffee uses city tap. I'm finally ready to commit to buying a good, large counter top model. I think it was SD and I who discussed this a few years ago. Forgot his model, but thought he said it removed the fluoride pretty well.

We have one of these. You can switch up the filter media to suit your water needs. This is immediately downstream of our oversized water softener system. It acts as the macro filter while this is the micro. We really like it. They sell several other systems to include RO systems. Though I haven't had one of those, I have had a good experience with this company for quite a few years now.

My shoulder has been really sore lately. Finally went to an orthopedic doctor and he said I have the beginnings of a frozen shoulder. I had one in my left shoulder 3 years ago and now getting it in my right. It's supposed to be caused by an injury too the shoulder. No idea what could've caused it. I can't remember hurting it. Got a shot in it and exercises to do. Might keep me from golf league but hopefully it doesn't get worse and I can't pull my bow back.

Try hanging from a pullup bar and overhead pressing.

So I need to share something with you guys if you're wanting to shed a few pounds and or get in shape. My wife and I started intermittent fasting about a month ago and as of this morning I am down about 20 pounds. I continue to workout but because of this weight loss I can actually do about 5 pullups now. What we are doing is a 36 12 fast. Basically stop eating Sunday night around 7 PM and don't eat again until Tuesday morning. My wife struggles with it more than I do and I think that's because I was a wrestler in high school and know about fasting (cutting weight) as we would go 2 and 3 days without eating. We try to do this 3 times a week (Mon Wed Fri) but Fridays we end up going out with friends or the kids so we cut that day a bit short. But even with that I have lost weight but maintained muscle. I'm 56 and I have not been this light since my 30's. There are other health benefits from fasting too such as your body start to use up old and or damaged cells and it starts using up your fat reserves. So far its been great and I can see myself fasting at least one day a week for the rest of my life. There are some studies out there as well showing the benefits with a 72 hour fast. I'm not quite ready for that but maybe someday. Anyway thought I would share my results with anyone who might be interested.

I've been watching a few of those 3 day and 7 day fast videos. They sure claim a lot of health benefits. I'll be at 48 hours this evening. Intending to make it 3 days, but open to going longer. Even upon waking this morning, my sore right knee, sore lower back, and tingly left side all felt better already. The inflammation seems to leave quickly.

I swam for about 15 minutes in a cold Ontario lake yesterday. Felt great after.

Thinking about doing a fast this summer.

My youtube doctor this summer says that everyone should spend at least 11 minutes in cold water each week. A cold shower works. Just wants you shivering.

There is a lot of discussion about cold plunges and the benefit. I went through the ice as a teenager, about nipple deep, ice fishing. Must have used up a life time supply of shivers, cold and wet aint gonna happen again if I can help it.🤣

Same happened to me. Doing intentional cold plunges helps to remove the shock of extreme cold exposure. It also increases awareness of the risk of unintentional cold exposure. It has been a very interesting process.

I wonder if freezing your butt off in a tree stand counts. You know that you have some solid cold exposure on a hunt when you get back to your truck after a hunt and you have trouble pulling your keys out of your pocket because your frozen fingers can't straighten out.
