@hillrunner has made at least one of those. It's nice from what I recall!

A lot of times those old gravity wagons can be had pretty cheaply I see them occasionally for under a $1000

Was going to build a box blind for my 5x10 utility trailer. Was going to make holes to slide 4x4's in so you can lift it off the trailer easy. Club president was iffy on the idea though.

There is a family down the road that uses one of those for youth season. It's so portable they pull it around the farm with hunters in it....

Not making that up!

Facebook blinds.

These are the one's that keep me going "Hmmm...." often free or just a couple bucks.

Cover it with brush or some netting....

Or just the coolest blinds ever, some equip with emergency escape hatches. 😉

Free if you have the time and the means of moving them.

My buddy made a gravity wagon one similar to that. deer paid little attention to it. His daughter shot her first deer out of it ? 7-8 years ago now. He thinks he'll have his hearing back before next year.

Lol. I took a shot at one with my .50 BMG without muffs on once. Once, just once. I'd pass a 230 typical now if it meant doing that again.

Know 2 people who permanetly lost some hearing from a 480 ruger and 500 S&W. Finishing up a 36" barreled flintlock. Next one is 41" long.

I dont need hearing protection as much at a hrdo plant versus steam turbine or combined cycle powerplants. When I was there, I liked those ear plugs on a half circle. Right there on your neck, dont need to squeeze or roll them in.

Just don't care for having stuff in my ears all day long.

MY old house I stacked firewood between 3 nearby trees in a V pattern. About gun height I would stack a few pieces on the very ends, then put a couple 2x4's over the opening and stack another row or two ontop of that. Woodpile blind. Build a new one every 2 years.

I'd also have a small blind within eyesight of my hunting locations. Get to that blind, glass the area, if a deer is around I'm in a place I can hide behind, has a seat, and a shooting rest. Came in handy 2 or 3 times over the years. Just something against a tree, about 3ft tall 3ft wide and some thing like a branch or two above you head to beak up your outline. Sometimes just a hitching post with some cut brush draped across it.

I used to own a TC Contender in 7x30 waters....with a 14" barrel and a ported muzzle brake......and I had a second barrel with a 223 chamber and similar muzzle brake. It was all in stainless steel with silver Luepold scopes. It was a good looking kit....and I used it at shot show to display products and also hunted with it at times. Prairie dogs and coyotes.....never shot a deer with the 7x30 waters.

Was coyote hunting / calling one day.....when I saw a coyote come running out of a farm yard some distance away. Got the truck parked in a good area and he was looking back to the farm yard as I slipped out of the truck and around the other side. I forgot my ear protection in the cab of my truck.....and fired at that coyote that winter day with my back up against the truck. The blast was so severe that I could not hear for over two weeks. The Doctor told me it was permanent hearing loss. I could not talk on the phone and barely could hear extra loud conversations....almost shouting. Could not watch/hear any tv shows. Was about to sell my biz....as I could not operate it. Then my hearing began to return.....and I was able to get along with the impairment. I had an amplifier installed on the earpiece of my phone and of course hearing aids now for over 30 years.

Had a similar experience with a lightweight rifle in 300 win mag. That knocked me to my knees when I shot it. I still have the gun....but will not install the brake. The gun stays in the safe.

I sold that TC Contender via Gun Broker (nearly gave it away)....and will no longer shoot any gun with a muzzle brake for hunting purposes....or target shooting either for that matter. I cannot count on having hearing protection available while hunting.

Today I have a near profound hearing loss.....and struggle to have any group conversations. If you have a muzzle brake.....proceed with extreme caution. To me, a muzzle brake is not worth it....especially on a hunting gun. Beware.

Sounds very similar to my experiences after taking that shot. The 50 has a 2.5 inch brake on it. The blast is spectacular! Looking back on some stuff that I/we have done can be regrettable.

Don't ever be in a duck blind with someone else that has a muzzle brake on their gun. Definitely took some hearing loss in my one ear from that. Blast gets directed sideways right at you in some positions but does not affect the shooter as much and they don't think about it.
