Finalizing dove fields

Are you referring to the wheat germinating? You should have minimal if any germination if you got a good burn.
Yes, wheat (mostly, and weeds). When we burn there ends up being everything ranging from blackened/chard kernels to complete heads on the ground. Much of it survives without getting much heat, a solid rain germinates it and the weed seeds. A 2ft tall field of green weeds, wheat, and Johnson grass isn't a great dove field.
 
My neighbor had 600 acres wheat this year. Unable to harvest when needed because too wet. He tried to burn it about the first of Aug. About half of it burned. Where it burned, subsequent rain turned it into a sea of bright green from all the sprouted wheat seed

I can see the weeds germinating, but we have had minimal wheat germination if we got a good burn. There was one year that the wheat was a little thin and we did not get a good burn and had wheat germinate.
