Can't stand them. The hunting lifestyle portrayed in most of them does not reflect the kind of hunter I am or want to be. I think these shows also give new and/or young hunters the idea that hunting and killing a buck is as easy as these shows make it appear..."should take about 15 minutes if I throw down enough corn in the right spots."
No matter the channel, the name of the show, or the "celebrity," it's the same scripted show over and over...all wrapped up in a tight 15 minute episode.
1. Hunter talks about his/her target buck by name as heavy metal soundtrack plays in background
2. Hunter climbs into stand
3. Within 2 minutes of TV time Hunter draws back and shoots buck
4. Hunter then reacts with visible shaking and comments like "Man, I just smoked a monster!"...maybe he or she thanks God...fist pump...pounds chest, etc.
5. Hunter climbs down and tracks for 1 minute of TV time
6. Hunter is then seen holding antlers of deer and makes the obligatory comment "Man, look at the mass on this guy."
7. Queue the heavy metal....
I'm sure there are some good shows that are more enjoyable. I just haven't found them. I do go on-line and watch Dr. Woods' Growing Deer TV. There is something about his show and his message that I find less revolting. Lots of blatant commercials and adverts for this and that...but I do enjoy he show.
