gave up on my cowpea/ sunflower/ corn patch last week, flipped it, disced it and put in PTT, GHR, and CC. peas and sunflowers were less than 6 inches tall from the constant browsing. I truly can not imagine how big a plot I need to make em last, or try milorganite or other methods of keeping them off for a while. Parts of NJ got 5+ inches of rain last night, I hope for the sake of the seeds it was less that a fifth of that on the plot.
how the plot looked after seeding Sunday, mind you this area is a new plot that was up to 10 feet tall with assorted junk such as cedar, rusian olive raspberries, jap barberry, grape vines, and tons of underground roots from trees taken out 10 years ago. Not all of the plot is visible in the pic, but it is about an acre and a quarter.
