Dead appearing trees

Angus 1895

5 year old buck +
Hello.
I have some trees I planted last year that appear dead above ground . They break and have no viable cambium.

They are English walnut , vine maple, persimmon, and swamp white oak.

will these sucker?

I am paying someone to water when I am away from home working.

I dunno wether to keep watering the dead looking ones, or just let them go,

Thanks
John

My guess is they are toast. If they were well established, it might be a different story.

I agree with yoderjac. I'd save your money on the watering.

Thanks

I think I had about 30% mortality rate on my English and SCO planted last year. 6-12”

Some trees just don't like certain areas.Heck I had enough mature walnut to do a harvest 15 years ago but now can't get them to live.I also have great luck with bur oaks and sawtooths but until I planted them there wasn't one on the property
