Cwd podcast that is actually very good

I would rather eat that than steroid injected fake meat we buy at the grocery store! Been around forever and we’re all kicking. You’re likely to die from another bag of Doritos over that deer in the long run. JMO
Would you feed that deer meat to your kids?
 
I agree the risk is low, but I don’t know anyone who would knowingly feed positive cwd meat to their kids.

I’m genuinely curious if anyone would do that.
 
As a people, we only worry about what we're told to worry about, or what we can see. Nobody forces the question about what we're not seeing, and that is by design. I'd love to see human pharmaceutical residue tests on waterfowl. I shake my head when I drive by water treatment ponds and see them full of ducks and geese bathing and eating in water full of human drugs.

Grant woods did some videos on neonics in turkeys and the livers of deer. I caught a podcast once talking about pesticide buildups in bears, despite them being entire regions away from agriculture. Over the life of a bear, those pesticide dusts move entire regions and deposit into regions that never asked for those things.

Nobody measures amoxicillin buildup in pork. Nobody measures the toxic levels of omega 6 to omega 3 ratios in confinement meats and their effects on the human body vs meats that have natural ratios of omega 6 to 3. Nobody measures the absence of nutrients in chickens that reach slaughter size in 6-8 weeks in a house, vs slow chickens designed by god that live outside and eat bugs and walk around and can live for years vs dying of obesity at 12 weeks.

What are the human health effects of eating meat of animals that were weeks away from death caused by inflammation, vs healthy free ranging herbivores? I know all these answers because I went looking for them.

I agree those things are bad, but I still don’t think eating cwd positive meat is good!
 
CWD positive meat? Or meat from a CWD positive deer? Those are different things undoubtedly. Whether or not to eat it is still a personal choice.

Nothing can stop the spread as they say, so we are headed toward a future where you can no longer eat any deer…

Cwd prions are in the meat as well as brains and spinal tissue. The risk seems low as thousands of positive deer are eaten every year, but I wouldn’t knowingly feed cwd positive meat to my kids.
 
The prions are now considered in the meat also? Is that new? Most guys around here don't even have their deer tested anymore.
 
Yes, there’s a u of mn study that found prions in meat as well as the water used to boil the meat. I’m having trouble linking the article, but here’s the author and if you google cwd in meat and her name it should pull up the study.

 
The study was from January 2025.
 
Googled her. Didn't find the study, but didn't look long. Read a couple of her articles. Would people agree that basically the best they can come up with right now is that eating cwd deer might cause you to develop cjd? Or don't they have a clue yet? Just trying to get up to the latest. Haven't looked into it much the past couple years.
 
Cjd or something similar is the fear, but jumping species is hard to do. My wife works with a doctor who deals with cjd patients and that is a really bad disease for sure.

He claimed that most of his patients are hunters, which was odd to hear and likely just a coincidence.

I don’t test every deer we shoot, but I wouldn’t eat one that tested positive.

Personally I just can’t buy into this. Call it negligence if you will. When Covid hit I paid no mind. My daughter was born the day they announced it. They tried to quarantine us in the hospital in a room away from everyone because my wife had all matching criteria. My daughter went to the NICU, and was legitimately sick full of fluid in her lungs. Spent 7 days there. Almost died in front of me. Spent nearly $12,000 in medical bills. My wife wasn’t able to see her for an entire 24hrs. She was a nurse in that very hospital. A simple phone call on speaker to my lawyer with the hospital president in the room set everything straight.

All that said, CWD is real no doubt.

Now, think about all the carcinogens in the food and literally everything else you’re consuming with your family. IMO, it’s fear mongering of the government over the hunting community and continuing to test your deer/share information with the DNR will be the ultimate demise to our freedom as landowners/hunters. Do with that what you will.
 
1 year after he shot her, we grilled Chris's cwd positive doe's tenders and a few of her steaks tonight. If these things kill us, we are dying happy.
