Cuddelink general Q&A recommendations

But the camera network isn't taking too many pictures. Cuddeback thinks I'm using too much data, with the normal amount of pictures.
You can PM me your log in email address and ill look at your account, i dont need your password, just the email log in

My average daytime pix is .5mb and .3mb on the L cameras. J cameras are about the same. I agree, you should be getting 2000 pictures.

Cuddeback got back to me today. This makes much more sense as to why the picture count seemed so low before hitting the "overage".

"We also took a look at the connectivity on the account, and we are seeing situations where the cell device connects and transmits data but it times out due to insufficient cell service. When this happens the phone provider, in your case Verizon is counting the data received even though the transmission was never completed. When this happens, it causes the account to use data quickly and, in your case, caused you to go into overage even though you did not hit the 2000 photo mark."

Thanks for following up with us and sharing. That makes a lot of sense.

Any reason to believe the Cuddelink system using the L-series home will become obsolete in the near future? I should buy one as a back up at that price. Wish the still had the cameras. I got a lot of Cabelas bucks that I would like to invest in more cameras.

No. John commented somewhere that these are the latest cell homes. Eventually there will be an L.series home with a camera, but it didn't seem like it would be soon. He also said to call Cuddelink directly to set up a new home cameras on an existing network/subscription.

Last time I posted this, the price went up to $99. I wonder if there was a surge of orders and Cabela's adjusts price based on demand.

I am pretty sure you can buy the L-series home with a camera already. There are 2 options ..... one with the camera one without.

I didn't see them anywhere online. They ones with cameras were the older G series.

L home is currently only made without a camera , that may change at some point but for now it's only available as the home unit.

Any updates on the new firmware release date? I'll be at camp in a few weeks and can possibly do the install.

I tried to install the 1.10.0 firmware via downloading it from the Cudde site onto an SD card and installing it according to the directions. None of my cameras would accept the new firmware and are still using 8.3.0 FW. They all seem to work ok as they are.

What are the benefits of the new 1.10.0 firmware? AND, is there going to be another FW release soon? Should I wait for the next generation FW to intstal into my cams? I have a mix of L, J, and G's.

Where did you get 1.10? I only see 1.7 on the website?

firmware and new app should go live this week, possibly by monday , there will be a version for G and a version for L series. the L series once its loaded will be the last one we should have to do manually , after that.... all updates will be uploaded remotely like Tracks is now. The update for G's will allow Gen 3 to operate but there will be another manual update needed later to allow remote firmware updates. The new app will replace the current app and will show up once it's released , likely this week. Camp update will be a bit later.

Just a note, Cabela’s no longer sells Cuddeback. The only items that’s have are leftover stock, at least in Virginia.

Yes that is what I was alluding to. I have Cabelas bucks to spend and nothing I really want from Cabelas. Cabelas pretty much died as a retail giant worthy of shopping at 5-10 years ago.
