Cuddelink general Q&A recommendations

Just getting a L zoom up and running. I did not pay attention to what FW version was loaded, but I assume it was Gen2 because the link level was very slow. I flashed gen3 and now I am getting this:IMG_20250725_134414106_AE.jpgIMG_20250725_134349829_AE.jpg

Link level shows it connecting, I have virtually no options in the menu; link level, Batt status, motion test, arm, off. That's it. I assume this is because the advanced menu is not activated?

I updated the firmware on a G home and G remote. Didn't work at first so I called the mother ship for help. Within moments after entering the correction, my phone app was inundated with the 50 close-ups of me working on the cameras (unfortunately both are mounted high in trees) (Apologies to J Volkman). None of the pics showed the overall field of view, just parts of me. The new app was connected, I could see all the pics and the camera settings etc. Nice. So I used the app to force a picture on each of the cameras. Then I worked on other woodsy stuff for an hour then started checking the phone. Cell rate is set for 1 hour. Well, after 5-1/2 hrs I still didn't receive the forced pics. Had to go home without confirming the camera placements. Around the 7 hour mark I received pics again. These cameras aren't close to my house. Need to plan another trip to adjust the aiming point.
Query is, why did it take so long to get the requested pics, when the setting up pics came through very quickly?

I have noticed (anecdotally) that I seem to be getting pics much slower after the update. It is summer and foliage density is peak though. Anxiously to see if it persists.

Did you set the cameras to high resolution?

when you send a command it takes 4 separate connections , server to home , home to remote and then remote to home and then back to server . Commands sent to remotes are not done in real time , it can take 12 hours or even 24 for commands to complete and for you to see the results.

your in the new simple user interface which new firmware switches your cameras to , you can switch back to the old interface by powering down the camera, then pressing and holding the more button down before powering it back up , it will then que you to confirm the old interface. You can make any changes not available on the simple user interface in the app.

if you are doing it in the field, i would update your home, run a cell test , then arm it - then update each remote and check link level and arm them. You will notice the remotes attain link level very fast now. This update fixes several bugs and adds many features, so i highly recommend all install it as you will see improved performance. The new app is also live, it will be rolled out to all users over the next 7 days automatically or you can remove the current version and then install the app again and the new version will load.
I updated the Home first, then ran a cell test, and still got the "Unable to read your settings. Ensure your devices are updated to the latest firmware and try again. If problem persists, please contact support." So I called the office and they said the Home unit won't work until every camera on the network is updated. I thought that was strange; the home unit should have worked on his own regardless of others. But I updated the only remote camera and checked link level, and bam everything started working.

I updated my home unit and all the remotes I could easily get to a few days ago. The ones on here that are “disconnected” didn’t get updated. The others are transmitting ok.

So the zoom (LLZ5A) runs on different FW than the others?

no it should be update to the firmware that the rest are on if they are on gen 3
It looks like if I push the more button with the camera off it will display "Beta F/W" then if I push "mode" it displays "00 00 52". But, when it powers up it gen3. That had me confused.

I am a long time Cuddelink user so I'm very familiar with it, it's limitations, and it's quirks, LOL!
I used to be active on the Facebook page when Dan was on it. Now there is not much response over there so I wanted to post here.
My system is a G home, and I have G, J and L remotes.
On July 24, I updated the system to Gen 3. The update went smoothly and all cameras connected.
I am receiving pics from all cameras, however, there is a major delay compared to the 8.3 firmware. Most of the remotes are beginning to accumulate images in que. Example on one cam, there are 11 images in que and I just received 1 image that is 2 days old.
I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this type of delay in the network on the Gen 3 firmware?

Obviously if it persists I will just go back to 8.3 and just not use the app and loose remote settings.
I am not using the hi rez option. Everything is as it was on 8.3.

I have noticed better performance between cameras post Gen3. I have a G series home and all L series remotes. When I had turned most/all of the cameras to high resolution, things slowed down significantly.

you can send your html report and log in email to support @ cuddeback.support@cuddeback.com, the engineering team will look at it , we have found that many people have had channel interference with another network and it wasnt as a cause of being updated. That said, they are looking at each case to learn if there is anything else causing it. Also , make sure you dont have hi res enabled on more than a few cameras as that can slow it down.
In regards to Facebook, there are actually more people monitoring it and responding than ever, in the past it was Dan and I and now there is 7 people monitoring all the support pages (including myself ) and response time is faster than ever. I also monitor this forum. Dan and i are still friends so nothing negative about Dan is meant by this.

also to clarify, you wont lose remote settings going back to 8.3, you would just need to do them in camp and there are a few that wont be available(like enabling hi res).

I am having the same issue and submitted pictures of my reports to the address John mentioned. However, I say that the number of links and long queue is directly related to the upgrade to Gen 3, as I never had more than 2 links or long queues, and now I have 2-15 links per camera (with 9 cameras) and three showing double digit queues. Additionally, once I did the update, the link levels are all over the chart (ranging from 98 to 4 on the same camera in a week) whereas before they were relatively stable day to day.

I appreciated the communication from support, "Thank you for sending over your report, our engineering team is looking into this and we will contact you once we have a solution." I empathize with anyone trying to debug software type issues!

This mirrors what I see too. I had two cameras with 2 links before the update. Now I think all but two have 2 links.

This was the confirmation I was looking for. Thank you!
I sent over the info to support like John mentioned.
It must drive them crazy to build the firmware and test it with everything working as planned, then release it and users have different results!

So it seems the part of the system that has always worked well with no user input (getting pics home the most efficient way) does not agree with something they changed.
