I think I want to start with three cameras - not sure which, yet - and I want a home camera that can access the internet to download photos - with a camera feature than can be switched on to use as a security camera when I am gone. I have wireless internet. Is a home camera available that will do that?

I thought the home plus was supposed to be out this month? Seems like that date continues to slip. Not saying it’s vapor ware, but continuing to see advertisements for devices that aren’t available is getting a bit annoying. I bought into the G series back in August and the J series in November because they advertised that the home plus and cellular was due to be out in early 2018. Not sure why it’s taking so long, when the pictures show that it’s just a Dual Flash without the camera. I, like others, don’t want to buy a camera just to be a repeater, way too costly...

at this time this is not available, eventually the home plus will be able to be hardwired into an existing computer where it will download images to a one drive or drop box type of file that can be accessed remotely but that feature will not be available before fall. You will be able to buy a home unit in the very near future. You can set any of the cameras to monitor like a security cam in the settings.

unfortunately when dealing with multiple suppliers , cellular providers, customs etc etc dates become a moving target. The intention was to have them shipping already but circumstances dictated that it get pushed back, Advertisement space is bought months in advance. Ive been using a cell camera home on my link since april and all i can tell you is it will be worth the wait. But i agree , its annoying when one wants to implement a new product and its not accessible. I am guilty for putting tentative dates out there but its the question that is continually asked and answering with "i dont know " isnt accepted very well.

correct, any cuddelink camera can be configured as a "home". The home plus that will be out soon does the same thing without a camera at a lower retail price.
the home cell unit which will be out shortly as well will collect images and then send them via cellular network.

I’m on the phone with Cuddeback right now and they are saying there is no estimated ship date for the home plus and it is not available for preorder. only the “home cell” for $200 is available for preorder and it’s estimated ship date is July 15th.

So I’m not sure what to think in the home plus, sounds like it is not the priority...

And they said the estimated price of $120 on the website is not necessarily true...

So, my best option at this time is to buy four regular cameras and configure one as a home - and then when the camera comes out that can interface with the internet, purchase it for the home camera and move the original home camera to the field?

correct but the home plus that will eventually will have the ability to connect via an existing computer does not have a camera function, it will only receive images from other remote cameras.

Customer Service is updated weekly on what is happening , im a bit closer to this project so at times you guys on the forum are hearing it about as fast or faster than anyone. I probably need to stop commenting for a couple weeks.
ill ask that anyone on here that calls in to CS not bring up what is discussed on the forum and confuse the situation. if it gets to the point where commenting on the thread is counterproductive ill have to bow out and refer all questions to CS from then on. Most of you guys are like me and are excited about this and live and breathe deer/habitat etc. im just trying to help out- JV

Oh, I didn’t bring up anything to them regarding what was being discussed on here. I just wanted to place a preorder with them for the home plus and was getting conflicting info from CS compared to what is on cuddeback.com.

if anyone has ever owned a business or managed a business they will understand that a implementation date or a project construction date is nothing more than a signpost. I would say in all the projects I have ever managed there has been only a handful that have hit EVERY signpost. Real life right now..... CUSTOMS, it's a joke! In all my years of dealing with customs , I have never seen so many delays. I have no idea what is causing it.

I would never ever imagine that everything would go as planned. I would even further say, that my guess is that at some point QA raises a red flag and just take the project plan and toss it and start over. QA just pulled the plug on a deal I am working on and caused a two month delay, OVER NOTHING. Speculation NOT facts. don't get me started... anyways.. no concerns.

Will the cell cam be able to send to an I-Pad based phone number. If so, would the I-Pad have to be on at all times - or would pics download when IPad was turned on?

you can set it up to send to 2 separate email address's in the setting each time it sends the images , you set the batch number. As example, my current unit is sending to my email address and the guy i hunt withs email each time it obtains 30 pics. If it doesnt load 30 pics in a day it will send what it has each day, as well as a status report once daily so you know the status of each camera and other details. So if you set up a gmail account as an example on your iPad, the images would be waiting for you when you log on to your account or the IPAD turns on and you open the app.

to be clear this system is not wifi, you can link cameras together via the cuddelink system. yes it is 4g, all 3g cell systems(phones ,cameras etc) will soon be obsolete so this is important.
The carrier is verizon and you will purchase the plan of your choice thru cuddeback. It will be a stand alone plan, not something you add to an existing plan.
