Crushed egg shells?

I was going to be ordering ag lime but found out there is a egg cracking facility where I can get crushed egg shells for free has anyone used them. Thanks

Damn ... that sounds perfect. I would go that route ... better to save ... :emoji_wink:

I save our household egg shells and spread them when I get a 5 gallon bucket full. If I had your opportunity I'd turn my fields white lol

The lime would work better unless you are capable of pulverizing the egg shells. The smaller the particles of lime the more effective for changing PH, same for egg shells.

Agreed though egg shells would be awesome for the soil but if you are trying to address a ph issue lime is better if you cannot make those egg shells into very small particles.

Wikipedia says chicken egg shells are 95-97% calcium carbonate held together by a protein matrix. Sounds great if you can get enough, and broadcast it. Tilling or disking could bust it up and incorporate it where microbes can break down the proteins.
