It isn't a Covid test, it is a "Influenza SARS-CoV-2 Mutiplex Assay test" that we have been using since July 2nd 2020 bud. Everyone refers to it as a Covid test but it does both Influenza A and B and Covid-19. Since we have only had 1,387 test positive for the flu this flu season when last year we had 16.5 million people (tested and confirmed) it was the flu (estimated 35.5 million) it only seems logical (though not supported by any CDC provided data) that Covid kills Influenza, and goes on to infect 28 million Americans.

Which seems weird, if we did mandatory flu tests all year long, that number lines up directly with normal flu numbers from year to year.

You must be in a white privileged state. In NY if you have symptoms you go to a designated COVID center, if you are really sick you go to the ER or a nursing home. So...they only let white guys in the back? Your doctor must be racist too. I hope the guilt didn’t ruin your day.

How many people know that the Covid test approved on July 2, 2020 is also a test for both strains of Influenza?
I find it odd that on average over the last 5 years we have 32.6 million flu cases in the US but this year we have only 1,387... but we have had 28 million Covid cases using a test that detects both flu and Covid.

The way I read that and other sources is that the test can differentiate between all three and report which is present. It’s not just a positive for one of the illnesses it’s a test for any of the three independent of each other.

Now I have no way to comment on the accuracy of the darn thing.
 
I read something about this a while ago. Seems Dr. Dipshit.has some splaining to do. Not that anyone in American media will ever ask him anything about it

The article i read claims Fauchi among others made millions off of making it and now hes making even more millions off of "fighting " it.
Funny thing is he couldnt even illegally make a very deadly virus and more than hes been able lead the "fight" against it. What a duffus.

That's right, Bill. A multiplexed assay detects and reports on each of the targets independently. Which means that everyone who has been tested for COVID using this method has also been determined to be negative for influenza. As usual, the devil is in the details, and I suspect that the cycle threshold level for detecting COVID is set too high, and perhaps the level is too low for influenza (there's an inverse relationship between Ct and the amount of genetic material that needs to be present to result in a positive test). Some of the data coming back suggests that far less folks who have tested positive for COVID subsequently develop antibodies to the viral proteins than you'd expect. And IMHO that reflects an overly sensitive assay - which may be how the test was designed, as they'd rather see false positives than false negatives.

As you say, ~1000 cases of flue seems off to me - but I also feel that it may be weak evidence that masks work as advertised. And that COVID is generally more infectious that the flu. Or spreads through mechanisms that the masks limit rather than prevent entirely. But that's not proof of anything, simply what I see as common sense, and the truth could be vastly different.
