How will we know when it’s safe to take the masks off?

About 6-7 days ago our little one started to get lots of sniffles and a cough. We didnt think much of it cause she has some allergies. Fast forward to a few days ago. My wife and teenager started complaining of sore throat and headache. I had the same. Then I lost my ability to taste anything got stuffed up and had a runny nose and really started to get winded. Wife got tested and sent home from the hospital and they insisted that the rest of us get tested too. So yesterday we went and got tested. We are all negative, but my wife says she is almost positive that we have it. Everyone she is working with is highly skeptical of the test results. They do not think they are accurate at all.
Without a doubt I am having the hardest time with it. I am gonna be 40 in a few weeks, on a high dose of blood pressure meds and have to use a rescue inhaler occasionally for my farmer/construction dust lungs. Other then that I am in pretty good shape and quite active. When I lay down I REALLY struggle to breathe after about an hour. It feels like someone has a ratchet strap across my chest. I have to hit the rescue inhaler about every 2 hours. If I am up moving about I almost feel good enough to go to work. As soon as I lay down it seems to attack again. I havent lost my appetite at all, but still cant taste anything. I had a severe cough and really plugged nose for a day and that has pretty much disappeared.
What I have learned:
The test wasnt bad
It seems to attack my lungs especially hard when I lay on my back. It isnt nearly as bad sitting up or laying on my stomach (which I cant do for long cause it hurts my back)
Its no fun wheezing like a 90 year old woman dragging her oxygen tank around the casino to get to her favorite machine
I'm drinking lots of fluid and taking vitamins
I would rather take my chance with the virus then the vaccine
I might feel good enough by tomorrow to go and social distance in bean field and kill some giant ragweed and waterhemp and get a little exercise and sun
I hate the Chinese communist party more than ever. Nothing against the Chinese people.
Buck, sorry to hear about the news... glad you and your family are hanging in there. Hope you get your vengeance on the weeds tomorrow.

What do you use to kill waterhemp?

As soon as we left the urgent care my wife made the comment that she did not think the PA went deep enough with the swab. Apparently the virus resides way down in there around a corner. She said I would have been cursing at her if she did mine. Either way I am just gonna act like we have it. The kids seem to be well on the way to recovery. I really feel like we are all gonna be just fine within a week or so.
my asshole governor will inform us.
now mandatory (Outside) if within 6 feet of a someone not living in your house.
I am sure after the election it will be okay. How will we know when it’s safe to take the masks off?

Sweden had an interesting approach. They asked their citizens to social distance, the their citizens complied. Without the threat of lockdown. The United States had to impose restrictions in order to get its citizens to comply, then as soon as they lifted the restrictions, folks stopped social distancing. The difference is likely the sense of societal responsibility. Americans love to argue lol. So, there are underlying cultural factors at play. But now Sweden doesn't have to yo-yo as the disease reemerges, which is ultimately more sustainable. They suffered economic fallout, just like the rest of us, but may fare better moving forward because of this consistency. Their death rate was way higher than other Norwegian countries, but seriously, the numbers were relatively small. They've hovering ~15 deaths a day now. They don't have enough of a quorum to trigger "herd immunity", but I still appreciate their approach. Unfortunately, I don't think it was possible in the United States.I don’t hear much about what is going on outside the US from our news here unless it’s bad news. My friend in Denmark messaged me this morning asking why our country is so screwed up with the handling of Covid. We debated back and forth about population sizes and differences in healthcare systems etc. but he does have a point. He says:
“Sweden has nearly eliminated Covid deaths by protecting those at risk with compromised immune systems and isolating nursing homes, and letting everyone else just get it.”
And sent me this link at the bottom.

Coming down in one week. I hope this doesn’t apply to the beach. Are the beach crowds bigger or smaller than normal?
Enrolled my three, young, school aged children in home schooling yesterday. Going to do it for this year and then see what happens next year. I'm not going to have my kindergarten daughter getting yelled at for wearing a mask improperly.
