Conspiracy theorys, where do you stand?

My Wisconsin cabin has a $60 monthly fee to be hooked up to the system and most months I use less than $20 in electricity. It is irritating, but it is what it is.
$60 fee is your 10 bucks to the electric co. The rest covers you paying for people who don’t pay in the city because they vote for folks that say your rich.

What’s really crazy is, I can see how much power I use each day at the cabin. It usually runs about 700 - 1000 watts per day. At 13 cents/kw hour, I use under a dollar a month at grid rates.

Our base rate up there is about $55 after taxes before the meter turns. I thought by now I might submit and join the grid, but 8 years in, I don’t yearn for anything, not even a welder.

If it’s too hot, I don’t go. That usually only happens 1-2 weekends at most per summer anyway. If I need AC, it’s no fun doing anything outside anyway.

Matt Walsh and Ben Shapiro about to be at odds the way Shapiro and Candace Owens were after Oct 7.

Honestly the propaganda machine was on full court press mode today. You can tell by the tone of the cabinet members how deeply unpopular this war is. White House sending out talking points to Congressional Reps for their hit pieces...Rubio admitting that Israel got us in the war, not great optics.

I can't even strike a bead with my welder with 1000 watts. SD you got other costs.....with propane to operate your refrigerator and stoves....and those batteries and solar gear is not free, and that system will not last forever. Not saying it's "wrong", but given choices I would pick the grid 11 out of ten times. I do not have AC at my cabin, but home is only 5 miles away. When it gets really hot and sultry (too hot to golf even) is a day I like driving around in the AC cab of my tractor and mowing, trail grooming and such. I especially like it when the deer flies are thick.....and cling to the glass of the cab....lol.

That’s funny. Really it is.
Best f’in thing the US has done in my lifetime and your whining about it.

I pissed on the face of Ayatollah Khamenei stuck on the back of a urinal at the local bar in 1980’s. And we were calling for war. We just had pusses in the government that wouldn’t do it.

Now we do….

The politics of this war are really interesting. I agree and disagree with Walsh on this take. The hawks and national security voters have mostly been squeezed out of the Republican party since the Democrats became the pro-war party and Trump campaigned on an anti-war platform. It makes sense that those people would suddenly be banging the drum now, because many of them are actually the ones who have been calling for war with Iran for decades. War with Iran has been a Republican talking point for as long as I can remember:

A lot of Republicans lost their stomach for war after the way Afghanistan and Iraq were handled. I was all for the Afghanistan war. I felt the Taliban needed to be eliminated. What we got instead was a 20 year quagmire that cost 2500 American lives and TRILLIONS of taxpayer dollars. And for what? For the Taliban to return to power, with a fresh batch of modern weapons. And that's not to mention a similar disaster in Iraq that wasn't even justified in the first place. It's completely reasonable that the attitude of Americans shifted to "Well, if that's how you're going to conduct a war, then don't bother."

The propaganda is just politics. This war is extremely complicated, and I don't think 90% of people could understand it, even if you explained it to them in simple terms. How many could even find Iran on a map. That's why the rhetoric is black-and-white propaganda: "Iran bad, America good. Trump smart, war going very well." It's a simple message that people can understand. I don't pay attention to the propaganda at all, because it's not meant for me. I pay attention to military and geopolitical analysis. I don't even pay attention to what Trump says; I pay attention to what he does. So far, the war is going well, and there are very good reasons for prosecuting it. That could easily and quickly change, but so far so good.

This is a very different war than what we are used to. We are used to the US acting unilaterally and leading invasions of far-off nations. This time, it's different. Israel is taking the lead on this one, and we are basically just helping them out. The Israelis understand the region much better than we do. We're also fighting a nation that is almost surrounded by our military bases. Iran also has a long coastline, which makes it more vulnerable to our Navy. There is an opportunity here to finally "do it right", so to speak. I think Trump is very concerned with getting it right, so I am cautiously optimistic.

True stuff. The fridge takes 8 gallons a month for 6-7 months @ $2.50/gallon. Batteries are $1600, and I’m on my second bank after some re-engineering. I have about $1000 into the other solar equipment including the panel stand, wire, charge controller.

There is even a fridge premium. Propane fridge was $2200 vs maybe $500 for a grid fridge. There were definitely capital costs, still pencils out way better than grid for my user requirements.

It’s all paid for itself. But let’s say it was $4300 all in. I’d be at $6800 in electric bills and climbing in that time. Every month that number would climb. Mine does not. I also have no idea what it would cost to convert or install grid In my building. Odds are I couldn’t even get an electrician to help with it, like most things up there. Nobody answers their phone.

It was all about being functional. You cannot count on the trades there because they are so understaffed. The helping getting the cabin up was enough to convince me to just the rest myself.

Seems like a no brainer to me. Once that nuclear threshold is crossed all future dealings are treated at their mercy. last thing we want is a Muslim North Korea

This is going to get pretty hairy.

AI fake videos flying. Ryan Macbeth has a pretty good video up with info on identifying the AI and how to spot these creations designed to try to influence us.

I think we can expect revenge attempts on Americans and American officials.

We gotta find a way to build more than 600 Patriots a year. We gonna need them.
