Conspiracy theorys, where do you stand?

My Wisconsin cabin has a $60 monthly fee to be hooked up to the system and most months I use less than $20 in electricity. It is irritating, but it is what it is.
Ben, if you get power from WEC you should check into seasonal billing.

$60 fee is your 10 bucks to the electric co. The rest covers you paying for people who don’t pay in the city because they vote for folks that say your rich.

What’s really crazy is, I can see how much power I use each day at the cabin. It usually runs about 700 - 1000 watts per day. At 13 cents/kw hour, I use under a dollar a month at grid rates.

Our base rate up there is about $55 after taxes before the meter turns. I thought by now I might submit and join the grid, but 8 years in, I don’t yearn for anything, not even a welder.

If it’s too hot, I don’t go. That usually only happens 1-2 weekends at most per summer anyway. If I need AC, it’s no fun doing anything outside anyway.
