Conspiracy theorys, where do you stand?

What is happening in Niger is happening all over sub -Saharan Africa. Russia/Wagner enable the strong men and go to work with their info campaigns. They are there to mine rare earth, gold gems, whatever. Chinese doing the same thing just using less overtly thug tactics.

Does any of the following sound familiar? It is from an article about Niger….

“Pro-Russian spin doctors are now focusing on simple messaging that taps into conspiracy theories with adherents around the world. In this account, the French and U.S. intelligence agencies finance jihadist movements to terrorize the population, thus justifying their intervention. The Taliban are peddling a similar idea, accusing the CIA of implanting the Islamic State group in Afghanistan. The operation is more sophisticated in Niger and, outlandish as it sounds, it is spreading quickly among the public.

“Terrorism does not really exist in the Sahel,” Bello said, echoing Russian messaging. According to him, France and the U.S. created the “scourge” of terrorism as a means of gaining control of certain areas that are rich in natural resources. Bukar Moussa, a clerk at the Niamey municipality believes the same: “Terrorists use European weapons. But where did they get them? The French gave them those weapons! They could never buy them. These are men who are hungry, who eat maybe once a day, and if they join those gangs it is because someone makes them promises. You will see that now the attacks will increase in the Gulf of Guinea countries, because that is where the Europeans are moving their bases.”

The world is a really complicated place. I’m just a hillbilly wanting to live a good life in the Midwest but I do enjoy this stuff. One thing I know for sure is Russia is no one’s friend, the U.S. has done a lot of good in the world despite our failings.

I would urge everyone who is interested in these geopolitical issues to read the book, "Confessions of an Economic Hitman" if you haven't already.

Manifest Destiny wasn't just a North American thing.

No place I'd rather live, no country I'd prefer to call home but make no mistake, "we" are not innocent.

What country has done more good in the world?

Of course we act in our own interest. Of course we have dropped the ball. The examples are many. But I don’t know why we are so anxious to say we suck as much as the Kremlin, the mullahs or the Chinese. Because we don’t.

I should try to finish that book someday. I got annoyed about halfway through when his political bias started to shine through and I shelved it.

Your worldview seems to be based on information from some very niche sources. I'd be curious to know what you've been reading and why you choose those sources over others.
Not one particular source. I've been listening to podcasts with Darryl cooper, Candace, Dave Smith, among others while driving. A lot of what i've been reading is just based on what I hear on podcasts or see on X and then google to read more about. The post you quoted was largely in the form of questions. I certainly don't claim to have it figured out.
The US certainly destabilized Iraq, but not the others you mentioned. And the "stability" in Iraq under Hussein was characterized by extreme brutality. Iran played a big role in the instability found today in Iraq, Syria, Yemen, etc. as well as the problems caused by Hamas and Hezbollah. The previous instability in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, and others was caused by.... Palestinians. If you think the instability in Somalia or Afghanistan was caused by the US, then I would seriously question your understanding of those places and your knowledge of history.
A fair and good point especially based on the countries listed by Dawgs.
Is the US to blame for Muslims committing genocide against Christians in Nigeria.
How do you justify your claims that the US and Israel are to blame for the Muslim world's woes. Can you provide any reliable source?
I certainly didn't say or intend to suggest that we are to blame for all animosity towards us by Muslims or "Muslim world's woes". But to the question i was responding to, of course the country we provide $, resources, and military aid, and propaganda for is going to be more safe us than the populations we are often performing military actions against besides said country.

I think she actually makes a lot of pretty good points. The robot stuff was her way of jabbing them for a reaction I believe. jmo

A lot of memes were made of Zuckerberg behaving like a robot at that Congressional hearing. I think these tech guys just operate on a different wavelength than the rest of society.

Imagine walking down a street and coming across a guy on the street corner with a handwritten sign. The sign reads "Lizard people are real, and they control our government!" Just about everyone would disregard everything that man is also saying. But if they confirm enough biases when wading into politics, they will get at least half the people to agree with and even defend some of their other opinions.

Cause milei said he was his favorite president and to spot them some gas money to ship all the soybeans they just sold to China
Yes soybean prices are up in Oct 25 in comparison to Oct 24 ! 🥩 Beef is at all time high. You should see the TikTok liberals jump all over this. They think every farmer is going bankrupt. They spread the rumor that JD Vance is buying up bankrupt farms . It’s unbelievable fake news!

Talked to a cattle guy yesterday in Minnesota. He’s having his best year ever ! His words “I’m killing it” !

It’s the inputs that are making life hard for the soybean guys.

I’m personally happy with beef prices right where they are. Haven’t bought beef in a store for a long time except emergencies. Local farmer corn fed beef tastes out of this gotdayam world and with higher prices maybe a few more small empty feedlots will get used! Feed ‘em that $4 corn! Those guys been getting screwed for decades.

I'm a little surprised this isn't more talked about. Smuggling drugs is apparently a capital offense now. An administration can declare an organization a terrorist organization and have no oversight to carry out extrajudicial killings in international waters. This is such a dangerous precedent. Obama started down this path when declaring any military-aged male could be considered an enemy combatant for drone strikes. For all of these strikes on boats in international waters, there has been zero evidence given to congress justifying use of force. This can't possibly end badly.

Brother, I just saw this. I wasn’t taking a shot at anything you said. That’s just my own sucky version of discussion or conversation. I’m not always good at it, lol

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again…. I think most of us on a site like this agree more than we think on most things, or we wouldn’t be here. But… if we all agreed 100% all the time not much fun could happen here. The margins of agreement are where the good stuff happens.

  • U.S. federal law:
The death penalty is a legal option for drug trafficking in the United States, specifically in cases involving certain quantities of drugs or associated criminal activities like murder.

How many American lives do you think are being saved by taking out large volume cartel fentanyl traffickers? I think the answer is a lot.

I don't think taking out the traffickers is the whole answer. We took out El Chapo, his kid and some of his lieutenants. They were replaced with some other supplier.
The real problem is the demand for the drugs, not the supply. The supply is just the result of the demand. For every supplier that's taken out there will be another to take their place.
We've had a war on drugs in this country since the 70's or before . And we haven't even won a battle, let alone the war.
