So here come tariffs…I’m personally fine with the use of tariffs to get what you want when you are the big dog. It’s a way for other countries to respect your size and power when there has been an imbalance. But, in the name of fentanyl. Come on. I don’t give a flying hell about fentanyl. Fentanyl is a doing a lot of dirty work. Cleaning out life long junkies who the former hardest drugs weren’t strong enough for. I bet .00001% of fentanyl deaths are the sad outlier the media hears about. The rest is voluntary suicide. This is a supply and demand issue. Americans wanted a harder cheaper drug and got it.
At the end of the day why the tariff gets imposed may not be as important as the message of the tariff but maybe it is. I personally want China to be punished for its trade imbalance but more importantly it’s stealing of intellectual property. We also need to stop financing their military that is being built to destroy us! They literally rattled the market and affected many millions of Americans bottom line last week but creating some bs ai model that absolutely stole American innovation. How come chinas is only 10% and the other two are 25%? Mexico…I mean how hard is to say you are getting tariffed into the dark ages until you secure your border and go after cartels. As far as Canada, I don’t know what they did but they do need to tighten their borders too. I know for a struggling housing market in regards to affordability, Trump is shooting Americans in the foot increasing Canadian lumber prices though.
It’s never been easier to be a scumbag doper loser. The amount of super high THC weed and THC products that is everywhere gets people through the doors. Making it damn near legal didn’t remove criminal organizations, it exploded them. (Kind of like how there were a handful of manufacturers of AR’s until the Clinton’s came along and grew the industry). They sold this with the idea of medical weed that was going to cure every ailment and treat every mentally ill person and prevent addiction. Well that didn’t happen, people are batshit crazier than ever. During Biden’s term the price of hard drugs plummeted indicating massive availability. We apparently aren't doing anything in South America to eradicate coca and cocaine labs as the cocaine produced has skyrocketed and by the time that hits the street it almost always has fent cut into it.
All started when we cut Purdue Pharma out of the picture and the folks who were strung out on prescription pills and opioid addicted fueled the resurgence of heroin. The Chicomms saw the opening, worked with head chopper cartels in Mexico and filled the void.
The cartels in Mexico are more or less the same thing as the government. I know what to do. It isn’t cutting user demand. It’s isn’t keeping kilos from crossing the border. It’s cutting off the money. Drug money flowing into Mexico has propped the country up and prior administrations feared cutting that off, maybe legitimately. It made it possible for Chapo, Mayo and others to build private armies. When they started to be more interested in building armies than making money is where a bad situation got worse.
Drug money used to flow back into Mexico in duffle bags in small aircraft, in motor vehicles etc. Big U.S. banks helped them launder it and get it into the legit banking system. Now it’s Chinese criminal orgs, big U.S. banks and bitcoin. This needs to be attacked by law enforcement. This has to be done by people with expertise. IRS, Secret Service, Treasury Department. I’m talking massive hiring. I’m talking people with cyber skills. I’m talking banking regulations. I’m talking crawling up these banks asses and shutting some down. Think that will happen any time soon?
So- tariffs. What is his end game? Last time we drove Brazil to the welcoming arms of the Chinese. We created a situation where China is starting to get a foothold in the West. We sure didn’t do farmers any good. If I know that, the Trump team knows it. I have to assume there is a plan in place. We’ll soon see.
One thing about all this. There are some very positive developments in a very short amount of time. Biden/Blinken/Sullivan acted like everyone in the world was some equal partner. We are not an equal partner. No, we should not just run over other countries but the Palestinians and the Iranians and the Lebanese Hizbollah are the losers and winners dictate the terms, not the other way around. The Trump team understands that. For this reason I am hopeful that the Trump team will get results in our hemisphere. It won’t be easy.
