Conspiracy theorys, where do you stand?

@Telemark one of the series I watched years ago when I was decompressing from my first retirement was Occupied which is set in Norway. IDK how plausible that story is but I really enjoyed it and enjoyed the setting.

If your a legal us citizen I would imagine that could fall under the few exceptions?

I would hope so. There are a lot of Americans who live outside the place where they are registered to vote. And another huge group who are temporarily away from home during the election. I have only ever voted once at a polling station. Every other time I have voted by absentee ballot.

I went to university after high school, and I moved overseas after that. The only time I ever voted where I'm registered was one autumn I was by chance back home for a few months.

I'll check it out.

How does that work for residency? How much time do you need to be over here to qualify as a resident?

Residency is primarily an issue for the country you live in. The US government doesn't care where you live or why you live there. You just have to be a "bona fide" foreign resident as far as the IRS is concerned if you want to file your taxes that way.

Bill I agree.

I think voters should have some skin it the game. It shouldn’t be TOO easy.

It’s also a great time to look around, see the faces and have a camaraderie with other Americans exercising a sacred privilege.

And I hate it that convicted felons can vote some places. This is a privilege that should be reserved for those of us that manage to live some semblance of a law abiding life.
I'm torn on the convicted felony thing. I'm thinking at some point you should be able to somehow earn your rights back, such as the 2nd amendment. Why do we cherry pick which rights we take away from a felon? Once you have paid your debt to society I think at some point (not sure when) you should get them back? IMHO.

Donald Trump is a convicted felon. The legal system is a farce. If a convict has done his time, he should get his rights back. Prisoners in jail or prison forfeit their rights as a part of the punishment.

I don't disagree with that

Pedophiles who did their time should get the right to vote for Kameltoe? Disagree. Maybe a low level felon should get voting rights back.

What’s not a conspiracy, imho, is that if Trump wins this thing cities will burn. Maybe more than a few. ‘Fiery but peaceful’ is how he’ll get to start a new administration. A no-win situation.

I thought NY gave voting rights back to felons? Like 2 or 3 years ago.

Did he get sentenced on those Phonalies?

I got one conspiracy theory. I think the democrats are behind the replicican robo calls I get on my phone 5 times a day.

People who think convicted felons should be able to possess a gun again must not deal with convicted felons much lol.

I don’t encounter many felons convicted of tax evasion at my little hobby job. It’s robbery, mob action, attempt murder, aggravated battery, aggravated battery with a firearm, trafficking narcotics………….

Cousin of mine was being robbed for many weeks. Was robbed of thousands of dollars worth of goods. Police wouldn't help. Hired an off duty police and they took shifts standing guard. Finally one night the serial thief came in the night. Shot at the getaway car trying to take out a tire. No one was harmed. Cousin can no longer own a firearm. He was and is a model citizen for many many years. Convicted felon.

It seems to me as long as you let 50 states do elections how ever they see best then there is always gong to be problems like, accepting votes after Election Day, counting votes for weeks and so on and so on. So seems to me only logical answer is pass national law on how elections have to be conducted since it is a national election, but if this was suggested people would be crazy mad and screaming from their rooftops. Makes sense to me on every level for us all to have the same election rules to abide by and much easier to monitor and keep a clean election.

If you shoot in the air at would be thieves don't leave a shell on the ground and set off an m-80 in the area asap. Tell the nice officer it was an M-80 not a gun shot. Trust me on this one ;)

That sucks.

That sucks. It is unfortunate that he was prosecuted. It sucks that he was not not allowed to plead guilty to a misdemeanor.

Here is the “but”. Apparently he committed a felony. A felony that a prosecutor could easily prove. And apparently his attorney sucked if the facts are what you describe above. All that being said… he made a really bad decision. Sometimes we make really bad decisions and it turns out fine but sometimes you make a bad decision and it totally bites you in the ass. Sorry something bad happened to an otherwise good person. It happens.

Careful. Sounds like something a fed prosecutor could call an explosive device, next thing you know you are a terrorist on the no-fly list. Kinda kidding, kinda not. Prob depends where it happens.

@Mortenson maybe your cousin could look into an expungement or a pardon. Gotta be some attorneys that have had success with that.

I’m not sure if a pardon makes it like it never happened but seems like it would be a direct path to expungement

We are kind of in the process of re-arresting all the old guys Obama pardoned for narcotics. Strangely enough they didnt re-integrate and get jobs. No one was more surprised than me.
