I’m actually fine with getting “bad guys”. I just think we have so many huge boxes to be checked here first. Also risking soldiers and resources because a bunch of drugged out losers can’t make better decisions and lack self control seems like a domestic problem. You don’t stop drug addicts by slowing the flow of drugs. You stop it by getting rid of the customer. They know this so there’s definitely another motive here.
Also you dont risk international standing going after a "narco-terrorist" in the name of stopping the cartels when you just pardoned a different "narco-terrorist".

But the government enforcing emissions standards on vehicles is not immediately risking the lives of service men and women or trillions of dollars in wars (ahem, "special military operations") because of whatever the current administration feels is a threat. Exactly zero of the countries I listed attacked us first. Some of the powers we have let the President use have much broader risks than others.
Right. Without rooting out the cartels even the best intentioned administration will either fall in line or be dead.
