3 of my schuette's have acorns this year!

Check out this Bebbs. It's in its 3rd summer and looks great. Acorn from OakSeeds.
I have a couple Bebbs from different sources and they all are out growing most other varieties that I have.

From a perspective of all the trees I’ve planted, I seem to get the most pride in a successful oak tree!

Some of those are producing acorns . I think the next 4-5 years I’ll have a bunch producing acorns & it will help my farms !

Oaks are the long game planting a tree that could still be alive in 500 years gives a sense of accomplishment. My apple trees in my area are not likely to be very long lived my pears maybe a 100 years maybe a bit more with luck but the oaks may be there a long time.

Quick walk around a 40 ac farm in Minnesota. The hybrids put on some more growth !

Grabbed a couple pics today of Concordia bareroots planted this spring. The first one looks very happy. The second one seems a bit stressed as some insect must be nibbling on the leaf edges...the leaves were much larger 2 months ago
Nonetheless I expect it will be ok

Which is the hybrid?

I’m guessing the tubed one.

How old are they?

Planted in 2022, I mixed the row . So I’m not positive which . Likely the taller ones.

This is a two year old bare root Concordia Oaks seedling from MDC. Several of the two year olds are out of the 5 foot tubes, but this is the only one from our ridgetop soil. They are definitely the fastest growing oaks I've planted from MDC.

I’m considering buying some burr hybrids from Idaho.

I’ve had good luck with the burr English from the bass pro parking lot but I’ve never had a burr/ gamble oak.

I got pH of 7.4, heavy soil, flood irrigation, and drought with occasionally a wicked frosts in may june.

I’ve tried the burgamble hybrid from Idaho State idk mixed results for me maybe they don’t like tubes idk.

I bought bur-gambles two different times 20 or so each time they where plugs not bare root and fall shipped if I remember correctly I didn’t really mark them well but did line the 1/4 mile drive with them at one farm and have replaced maybe 30% last year with other trees I haven’t walked that line of trees yet this year I’ll try and do it one night this week. I will say everyone’s site is diffrent and what does poorly for me may grow like crazy for you. I drove by five tubes yesterday in a separate small planting that I’m about 90% sure where those bur-gamble seedling and all appeared to be dead. It’s really tough for me to keep track of all the trees I have I should have marked the oaks better than I did.
