College signing day for my daughter

Turkey Creek

5 year old buck +
Well my daughter finally signed her official letter of intent for volleyball today! A lot has happened to her in the volleyball world since I last posted on her back in the Fall of 23'. I won't bore you with all the boring details, some not so boring. LOL She decided not to play her Senior year for high school volleyball. The head coach is an absolute "PEACH", after a group of us parents tried to have her fired for a number of issues following last years season up to the start of this past Summer, all but 1 Senior girl decided to boycott playing for her again. The young lady that stuck it out is a great girl and her parents said they couldn't let the Coach win the battle so they insisted she finish out her high school career. My daughter has played high level club volleyball for the last 3 years so not playing for high school wasn't any real impact. She got a number of D2, NAIA and other offers. What it boiled down to was the route that would cost her the least amount to go to college and to play for a coach that was dead set on having her as a player. She is going to start her collegiate career for Coffeyville Community College here in KS. The coach is new to the school and was brought on to turn around a program that won back to back Jr College National titles in the not so distant past to a program that was struggling badly. We have been completely impressed with the coach and our daughter hasn't even played a day for her yet. We had been on a number of college visits but when our friends said that their daughter was going there to play and that we should take a look, we did. Something just clicked on that visit and before we had even left to head home our daughter had made up her mind that this is where she wanted to continue playing ball. Kansas is known for having some exceptional junior colleges and turning out some great athletes that go on to compete at even higher levels. We will see where this path leads us. We are pretty proud of all 3 of these young ladies, they have put up with a lot this last year and they have all managed to persevere.

Congrats Turkey Creek! Great news.

That’s awesome! One of my best friends and his family live right outside Coffeyville. If you need a contact of some of the best people this world has to offer let me know. I know that is a ways from home. They could be a great emergency contact for her.

Big congrats to your daughter and you and your wife! Very exciting times, will be fun for your family to keep on going too matches cheering her on. Every bit of xtra $$ helps to get through college.

My oldest son had opportunity for track or football scholarships, went D2 football to a great school 45 minutes away, youngest son went D1 football an hour away.
The recruitment experience is stressful and fun at the same time going through. Signing day is a nice relief to be finally done with the decision making.

Congratulations to her!!! Great story.

Congrats, that's awesome!!!
I live pretty close to Cowley. I need to make a few games next fall to watch her play. I bet those 2 schools will have some battles the next couple of yrs.

Congrats, what a great accomplishment for both her and her parents.

A small part of me feels like I hope my kids (7 and 5) aren't very good at sports because I don't have the mentality to deal with the politics involved with high school athletics programs nowadays.

Hard work paying off, I hope she loves it

I appreciate that. We do have a couple contacts down there, but more is always better! The one thing that we liked about the coach is that she has lived there for a long time as well and she said, “I have a family with both the fire department and sheriffs office. You call me and I can have someone there in short order to handle anything.”

We will catch up face to face one of these days to chat sports and habitat! I am pretty sure there won’t be many games we won’t be at. Especially since we can take turns carpooling with our friends who will also be making the same trip.

You are correct about the stress of making a decision. It isn’t as simple as most people would think.

You could deliver trees on the way to Cowley

Congrats! Wonderful accomplishment.

Congrats to your daughter!

Both my daughters played college softball. They both benefitted from it in ways that none of us expected.
