Catscratch House and Habitat build

I like unique deer like that.

Put a cage in the milo. Curious to see if there's a difference after heads start. They're already hammering the sunflowers. Dig deep enough and you can find pumpkins blooming.

I like to experiment with natives. A little soil showing and a strong crop of ragweed should make a quail or 2 happy.

Be curious to see if your pumpkins get pollinated if they are that well hidden.

I'll venture it's a yes. Bugs can find a single BB sized hole in 18 screen doors and windows to get into my house... surely they can find some pumpkin blooms in the bottom of a milo field.

I was reading some stuff on commercial pumpkin growing, and one article said that overly fertilized vines make it difficult for pollinators to find flowers. That was the thinking behind my comment.

I was making a joke with my last post. Honestly first I've heard of suck a thing. Those blooms are way the heck down there. Will be interesting to pay attention to.

I've planted a summer blend couple of years. Pumpkins and gourds have no problem pollinating.

I got your joke, LOL. I have just been researching a bit on the commercial pumpkin aspect and it was brought up in stuff that over feeding Nitrogen leads to a lot of vine growth and it has been found to decrease pollination. Pumpkins apparently due like a good shot of N, but over use can be an issue.

I didn't see the wasp nest until it was to late. I swell up like crazy! Stepped into the house and said "Hon, I'm a mess... would you bring me some wasp spray and more beers", she said "plural?". I said "sure". She said "only if I can watch!".

I hate wasps and there has been an overabundance of the SOBs the last couple of Summers.

Extended the dock. The swimming end is right on the edge of the moss line. Nobody wants to swim in weeds. Used a gate for the frame. Kind of redneck but it's very light and ridged. Will throw some wood or aluminum on it for a platform.

We let the barn swallows nest on our house the last 2yrs. They've completely ran out the wasps that like to nest under the deck and eaves. This nest was in a shed though.

Picked up a clearance mix at Walmart. Would have rather went just straight radishes, but that would have required another hour of driving. Hope it grows, no big deal if not.

That disc makes a clean seed bed, should be good. Did you disc the seed in or broadcast after discing?

Hopefully didnt cover the small seeds too deep, I've had good luck tilling, broadcasting, then cultipacking...but that's normally all the same size seed.
I thought of that, but minutes are in short supply and I'm not to worried if the plot doesn’t make it.
