Catscratch House and Habitat build

I forgot to write up the last post!

My cell cam is at my dad's place. Not a single buck has dropped a single antler out there (20 miles away).

I'm seeing a lot of my biggest bucks still holding both sides at my place.

Saturday the neighbor sends pics of a tailgate full of sheds that he found. Said his camera shows all have shed!

I get excited and decide to walk Sunday morning after chores. On the way to the horse pen I see 3 nice bucks in the driveway, all with both sides still on. There goes my excitement for shed hunting. :(

Pictured was found around the house. I decided I still had to go out but didn't want to kick around my best places just yet. Almost all of them had blood stains on the pedicles.

Nice. I see squirrels found the goofy one, but at least they left the wiggly point alone!

That wiggly point is the coolest thing ever! I complete and perfect cork-screw.

That one might be interesting next year. Looks like a flat beam as well, or is it just heavy?

Nothing heavy about that antler. It's beam is taller than wide.

Pretty neat. I've seen some photos of older deer with flat beams that were really impressive.

Not really palmated like I dream of shooting, but this year's buck had tall beams. It's a pretty cool trait.

Yeah! That's what I'm talking about. I dig that look on mature bucks. Seems like you have it in the gene pool of your local herd. Lucky you. We have it a bit up at our place in Ontario. I rarely see mature bucks there, but when I do they are really impressive. The limestone bedrock gives them a lot of calcium and magnesium, and they can get huge racks in their third year. I'm trying to figure out how to get more protein into their diet.

Unfortunately, the place I hunt in Ohio has a lot of deer with wide inside spread, but short-tined racks. They really just need age to be impressive.

I believe Ontario trends towards heavy chocolate colored antlers that I like so much!

Impressive rub on that cedar. Lots of bone in your shed pics.

On the way back home I found a few antlers (enough that carrying my pole became cumbersome). Might be a story to a couple of them if I get time to tell it.

Nice, most of mine are still holding so I haven't looked yet. Those beaver should be easy to thin out. Let me know if you don't have what you need and I will borrow for you. I didn't think it was warm enough but I got 4 possum on the half shell myself fri and sat.

Thanks for the offer! I have a big conibear. No clue where all my old drown cables are (it's been a long time). I sat the creek the last 10 minutes of light last night. Saw 2 and figured out where their den is. Should be easy going from here on out. Just need time and weather to get it done.
