Barnes Spit-Fire MZ 50 cal 245 gr. SPTF BT

fingers

5 year old buck +
Need to restock on my muzzleloader bullets and cant find them in stock anywhere. Anyone know of a source...if not, I may have to get the version with the plastic tip?

Look into harvester sabots. You now would have what you can put in the barrel. Then pick the bullet you like. the 50 into 40 cal, .429", and 452" have all worked great. NEver needed to shim in the sabot to get the bullet to grab the sabot or nothing. Cloverleaf's at 100 yards with my T/C omega with .429" 240gr Hornady xtp's.

These guys might have it.

What powder are you using? I also have a TC Omega. Currently using 115 gr of triple se7en FFFG.

Im an oddball I use 80grs goex FFFg, the real stuff. I often go out in the woods with a 54 cal flintlock, which I also use 80 grains FFFg.

Got a bad disc in my neck, so I cut back on the charge. IF I recall the stock is hollow, I could add weight to it.

Trying to save myself from selling a stainless grey laminate browning BLR in 450 marlin. Trying light 300 grain loads. But, I am now going to match the trajectory of my T/C omega with Barnes 250gr tsx. Probably 230 yard max, maybe clear out 20 yards at the end of the club's swamp and get a full 250 yards for an even number. Shooting for 1700-1800fps. The T/C might have to go up in charge. I'm out of FFg goex, everyone's on backorder.

Harvester's are real nice, trying to find hard to get bullets is over. Haven't played with different bullets in years, but premium handgun bullets seem to work well with whitetails. 240 xtp expands enough without being too much. Yo hunt NY's public land you're supposed to use non-lead. I do have Barnes tsx for the 44 mag sabot. I forgot the bullet weight, maybe 225 grain. I may or may not need it at my camp's club. IT's state land leased 100 years to a paper company that has to offer "public" recreation. They're way of doing this is subletting hunting leases to clubs like mine. About 650 acres between 15 guys.

I'm used to hitting my mark with round balls, so hitting up to sabots in just about any bullet is a big step up. OFten hard pressed to harvest one past 75 yards. My problem with range is quite often they're too close like 3 yards from stand. Hunt cornfield edges, or they just keep to the treeline when its soybeans.
