Bare root shipping delay

Jaxon Holler

Yearling... With promise
Ordered 20 persimmon seedlings which shipped from Blue Hill on Tuesday and supposed to arrive today. UPS apparently sent them to the wrong route so I won’t be getting them until Monday. I won’t be able to get them in the ground until Tuesday afternoon at the earliest. Anything I should do or things to look for when they finally arrive? Hoping with cooler temps they will be fine and I’m worrying for nothing.

I wouldn't even the open box, just stick it in a cooler shaded spot. Highly doubt persimmons are showing signs of life yet.

As soon as they arrive I'd open the box and make sure the roots aren't all dried out. You'll Probably have to sprinkle a little water on the roots then seal the bag back up and put them in a basement or garage as long as it's not too hot until you can plant. Probably not that hot where you are , but it was 85 degrees where I live today. 5 to 7 days shipping is about average/acceptable...and should be nothing to worry about. I just received 4 crabapples that were in shipping for 15 days !!!! might as well say 16 days because they were boxed and labled the day before. I wasn't happy and thought for sure the trees would die as 3 of the trees had dried out blossoms . The seller refunded my money and told me to soak the roots for 24 hours and plant. After about 7 days all the trees leafed out and are living. PS: The original tracking said 5 days delivery...SO not sure why it took 15 days .
