Stopped by our place last Saturday. Brassicas are looking good.

Oaks around the field edges have some acorns.

GHR bulb underneath.

Freedom apples.

Wolf River getting some nice size.

Nice looking brassicas, and apples

Opening day limit of wood ducks.

Radish and PTT.

I love big bulbs :cool::D

Good looking plots and apple trees! Looks like you have some customers for the groceries on the cams, too. That's the name of the game! Seems like a good fall shaping up around your place. Nice job.

I hope the deer do as well. Time will tell! Does/fawns have been hitting our field quite often. They're liking something out there.

Swung through your neck of the woods on Thursday badgerfowl. I don't think I've ever seen corn that looked that good on non-irrigated ground in Juneau County.
Outside of a dry July we've had excellent rainfall, especially in August. Late July planted brassicas are 2 feet tall. Mid July planted failed due to lack of rain. Even mid August planted brassicas had over six weeks of growth. First hard freeze was last night and I'm not sure how bad it even was. 32 degrees this morning on our duck hunt so it couldn't have been that bad.

Thanks! I tried another sweet sixteen yesterday. Much sweeter than two weeks ago. Freedoms are probably ripe now. Didn't try one of those yet. Bucks have disappeared from cams last two weeks. Only one spike on latest pull. Probably a couple weeks before things pick up again.

Duck hunting continues to be good. Here's my limit of woodies from this morning. Group got 6 this morning.

Beautiful October morning. Lots of ducks flying today. Too bad they were all woodies but can't complain. Tough to beat fresh wood duck.

The ducks have been gone for a couple of weeks now. Deer have been moving for the last couple weeks. They are really hitting our field which was planted in clover, winter wheat, and brassicas. We've consistently had 8-10 deer in there in the evenings. Sat in the wind on Friday night and saw 8. Saturday morning was quiet and no activity outside of a single fawn at 10am. Saturday night was perfect. Light south wind, low 40s. Sat in the southeast corner of our field. 10 deer were out feeding when this guy came in just before dark. 10 yard shot in a small window cut from the pine tree I was sitting in. He went 40 yds and crashed a few seconds later. 10 points, 15" inside spread. My best buck to date. All of my habitat work is in the young stage still but I think planting our 5 acre field this year with actual food for the deer has helped tremendously. It's been basically pasture for the last couple years. It's not easy competing with all the corn around but they seem to be liking the brassicas. Here's a few more pics.

Used a rage extreme two blade. That was the entrance. Blood trail was almost non existent. Double lung I'm guessing but I got him a little high. Arrow was sticking in the ground covered in blood. Broke one of the blades on a rib.

Nice buck, Badger. Broken tine - must have been a fighter. That Rage did a job. Good to see your plot work / habitat work is paying off! That has to feel good. Way to go!!!

All looks good for you badger. Great plots, mast, ducks and of course nice buck.

Thanks! I missed a nice longbeard this weekend while sitting in my duck blind. Two snuck up behind me and I whiffed on a running shot. Would have really capped what's been a great fall so far!

Great looking euro mount!

badger, if you don't mind me asking, where did you get that euro mount done and how much did they charge you?

Straight shooters in Tomah. $150. Not sure if that's good or bad. Didn't do any shopping around. It was convenient and quick!
