American Burnweed

Jaxon Holler

Yearling... With promise
First summer following our logging operation and I’m seeing American burn weed everywhere. I know it’s a native but it seems to taking over. I’m mowing it where I can, specifically in a few areas that I’m converting to savanna and pollinator plots. Is this a problem plant or will it get suppressed by other forbs and grasses as they take root and establish?

It will eventually be suppressed enough by other species that it won’t be an issue. Mow it enough to keep sunlight getting to the desirable perennial species that you plant and they will overtake it in a year or two.
