2023 Fertilizer / seed prices

Anybody see or hear about next years fertilizer prices? Thinking of stocking up for next year. No big plans next year, little 6-24-24 and potash maintenance up north and some 6-24-24 / triple 15 for the trees. I do need clover seed. Had more or less 3 years worth 3 years ago. Thinking of doing 50lb'ers of dutch, ladino, and red. Frost seeding dutch and ladino on 8 acres this winter.

I don't work in the fertilizer industry any longer, but much of the phosphorus and potassium we use comes from the Baltic states through Ukraine. I would expect their prices to be slightly more than 2022. Nitrogen should be coming down but so far hasn't. I think some fertilizer companies may be protecting margins until more competition causes prices to ease.

Anyone have updates on fertilizer prices?

A good friend of mine runs procurement for a fairly large ag chem distributor in the Midwest. She is saying that at least many bulk items will be very hard to come by after planting season. She has been lining up orders for summer discount programs and says there are MAJOR shortages for most internationally sourced products - P, K, and most herbicides.

I don't think this affects much for the retail or small orders like most on this forum would be using for the immediate short term, but I would bet anything that prices will start climbing in early summer once the current inventory gets worked through.

Bought mine in febuary. Pretty much any kind of common fertilizer was $21-23 a 50lb bag. 50lb bag of rye certified as seed $19. Buying 80lb bags this weekend for $21 each.

8lb bags of osmocote usual way overpriced at $25 a bag. 20lb boxes of agriform tablets about $70 shipped. 4lbs of miracle grow around $11-13 bucks.

Bags of lime been hurting me the most. USed to be $3.50 2 years ago around 6-6.50 a bag pelletzied lime. Been using the barn lime this year at $4 a 50lb bag.

I picked up some fertilizer today all 50 pound bags. 6-24-24 was 20.44, 0-0-62 was 17.65, 46-0-0 was 21.16 and 15% Boron was 38.00. Location is michigan.

I wish I could find prices like that!

19-19-19 is $27/50 lb bag here

I asked about product availability and price increase yesterday. I was told agricultural products are exempt from tariffs right now it would be business as usual.

I'm not convinced ag products won't still go up with the reasoning that everything to produce them went up.

I’m sure they will. It just so happened one of the owners help me load yesterday. I’m just passing along what he said.

My somewhat local co-op used to sell triple 12. Got triple 15 and 19 now. Feel like it's a bit hot for fruit trees

Did 1 part triple 15, 1 part 6-24-24, and 1/2 part 0-0-60? potash. Seems like apple orchard fertilizer is around 5-8-12 ratio'd. Roughly 8-15-27 is that mix.

Yes - I use triple 19 on things like sunflowers and millet
