15 degrees this morning

Well we will see how accurate the freeze damage to various bud stages charts are. Got down to 15 degrees here this morning. I have apples and pear trees from the complete dormant stage to tight cluster. Been a rough roller coaster ride for weather here this spring.

that might leave a mark

Oh that sucks TC! We have had very normal temps here for a while now. Looks like it will continue. What was at tight cluster?

JNC on Bud 9 and Maslin on M9-Nic 29 also had a Chestnut crab on Malus Baccatta. My Bud 9 trees are the farthest along in general, most are at 1/2" green. I had heard that Bud 9 tends to push growth early, but also can mature 1-2 weeks earlier in the fall.

I haven't noticed, I'll watch that this spring. I've got Honeycrisp on B9, M111, M7, G11 and G16.

From the look at the chart 15 is a problem for apples at tight cluster and borderline for pears at the 90% kill level but who knows maybe you will be ok. We will keep the faith with you

Yeah much luck to you TC thats pretty low.

I will take a look later in the week and report back. Supposed to get 2-4" of wet snow Wednesday night and strong winds. I love spring on the plains!:(

Yeah Weds/Thurs we are supposed to get some snow with highs of 37 and lows of sub 20. :'(

I hope this don't hurt my peach tree, its pretty silver tipped at this point.

Just checked my trees today and the most advanced are barely green tip and the B9 Honeycrisps are way ahead of all of my other HC's. That rootstock pushes amazing. Praying for cooler temps with a gradual warm up. Looks like the case for the next 10 days here in PA

Got a shot of snow and high winds yesterday, havent had time to check trees since I just got back home from 2 days of delivering trees.

We're getting that storm on and off today and tomorrow. We woke up to an inch or so of that nasty white stuff! What are your temps like TC? We are supposed to get up in the 50's this weekend. I've got a ton of clean up to get done and get the sprayer hooked up and calibrated.

My dream George is to have a sprayer to calibrate and not use my 3 pt hand sprayer

Low of 28 degrees last night, high was 45 today, back to freezing tonight and then low 50s tomorrow. Saturday nights low of 24. Next Tuesday high of 77 degrees, its all over the damn place.

What do your buds look like now TC? Weather still looks great for here in the NE, very seasonal for the next 10 days. Lowest temp I see is 24. I'll get out in the orchards later today, but I doubt things have changed much.

Everything has pretty much stalled out at this point, nothing is pushing anymore than it was a week ago. The only damage that I recognize at this point is to a rose bush that was fairly leafed out next to my house, that 15 degree night completely toasted all the leaves. Even the Chestnut apple that was the furthest along seems to just have stopped growing, but dont see any brown leaves or buds.

I noticed that my large Bradford Pear that has never bloomed is covered in flower buds this year. It suffered severe winter injury to the bark in the fall of 2014, I am thinking that might have been the stress necessary to force it to flower finally. I keep thinking the tree will die at any point now, but I might get one good flower show out of it.

I worked out in the orchards this afternoon, nothing has changed. Still pretty tight here.

I have some a bit further showing some green but not a whole lot. Some of the early bloomers I guess
