Frost Seeding Switchgrass in Logged Area

We clear cut some spots on our ridgetop this past fall. I'd like to frost seed switchgrass in a couple weeks in some spots where I would rather have switchgrass than regen. Any guesses on the chances at getting the switch to establish? There's quite a bit of exposed soil from the skidder and...

    Planting Brassicas Too Early

Typically I plant my turnips/radishes around July 20-25th, and I get some really big bulbs and leafs. I was talking with someone saying to plant later because you don't want them to get that big, something about they don't taste as good as when they are smaller. I'm leaning towards planting...

    Bee Hive In Tree

I was hanging a stand in a willow tree last summer when a bunch of bee's got stirred up out of the tree. I waited until a frost and went in and hung the stand after the bee's were dead. It's an incredible spot, and this is the only tree we have in the area to hang a stand. The bee's are doing...

    Burning Logged Areas

I keep hearing more and more about burning your woods. I want to find someone who knows what they are doing and set up a few burns on our property. I would like to burn an area we logged a month ago. I'm in Western Wisconsin, a point in the right direction would be great. I dont do fire, but...

    Alsheimer's rut predictions

I had great action the last 10 days of October, the 25th-31st were crazy, then temps got warm, and I wasn't spending as much time in the woods, but cams were showing mature daytime activity until the 9th, and then they disappeared. I really like the last week of October if temps are right vs...

    Brute 'N Bottoms

Here is he this year. I'm curious whether you guys think he is 3 or 4 years old this year. He recently broke off about 3" of his main beam on his right side.

    Brute 'N Bottoms

We had a buck show up that we let walk last year. He was a spindly 10 point last year with a broken G2 & G3.

Wisconsin... dates that stand out to me.

I have consistently had some of the biggest bucks of the year on camera from October25-Halloween. I have made the mistake of waiting too long to go in to my best spots over the last 5 years. I think the rut should keep getting better, and I figure the best days should be around November 7th...

    Brute 'N Bottoms

It was on private land but yes it was DIY. Getting close with a bow on a bull is a challenge, being on the ground with animals that big makes it exciting.

    Brute 'N Bottoms

I will be checking cams this weekend more than likely at both farms. Pulled one card and had a few feisty bucks.

    Brute 'N Bottoms

I had a great time in Colorado last week, the elk rut was wild. Now time to focus on whitetails.

    Brute 'N Bottoms

No guarantee, it was reasonably priced, we will take our chances. We've gotten a lot of rain and they look good so far. Hopefully they make it through the winter.

    Brute 'N Bottoms

The Gilmanton area got absolutley hammered with rain early in August, it resulted in flooding that was worse than the flooding that happened last year. I'd say half of the property was underwater for at least a week. It destroyed my bean plot by the river, but the other 2 bean plots are just fine.

    Brute 'N Bottoms

I checked cams and had a buck show up that we passed numerous times last year, I believe he was 3 last year. Here he is on the edge of one of my bean fields a few days ago. Still a straight 8 point, he hung around all fall and winter last year, looks like he added some mass, I'd like to...
