Stock Market is the bottom in?

That's not what a pump and dump is. Making money while the stock is on the way up is scalping.

A pump and dump is touting a stocks upside and creating excitement while believing it will tumble. It used to be the preview of unscrupulous brokers and radio and TV talk show hosts. Today, it is done via social media. The then sell off there position anthemically to their public remarks. Exactly what some are doing with gamestop.

Gotta love Wikipedia ^^^^

I'm not touching the definition of pump and dump....

Lots of folks using social media pumping with the "stick it to the man" campaign and touting the "long-term" potential of the company. Many realize it is extremely overvalued and have or plan to dump it.

Come on Bill....you can resist the urge.... :emoji_laughing:

Who specifically is doing a pump and dump? And how do you know more about its long term potential than anyone else?

When social media is the mechanism, no one really know who all is doing it. I have absolutely no nothing about the "long term potential" other than that is the typical pump. I do know there are no fundamentals to support a tiny fraction of the current price.

My only point is that it is gambling, not investing. I've got no problem with folks gambling on stuff like this as long as they can afford to lose.

Good luck to ya. I hope you hit a home run with it. My point has been made.

Thanks,

Jack

But there's still a huge short position on GME. So how do you reckon it's not a short squeeze?

All this pump and dump and short squeeze talk is making me uncomfortable

I did not say there was not a short squeeze. Go back and read my posts. Eventually, I'm sure you will figure it out.

As well you should be....Having said that...I was young once too. The siren's song is tempting.

If it's a short squeeze then it's not a pump and dump.

I agree with yoderjac it’s a bit of gambling. I’m quite content sticking with index funds slow and steady will win the race. I’m good with my balance doubling every 7-8 years and maxing out the 401k contribution limits year after year after year. It’s not fast or glamorous but very effective in building a retirement nest egg that can take you to a comfortable retirement. I’m more of a “get rich slow” kind of guy.

As I said, both are going on by different folks. They are not mutually exclusive.

Oh...I get it...everyone who makes a play on a stock must use the same strategy.... Keep dreaming... :emoji_laughing:

What are some of the good semi conductor stocks available.? Zacks shows Micron Tech and no others...there has to be some others that would catch some attention.

Cant help you with the semiconductors, but my stuff has been doing AWESOME since the end of Q1. Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, Snapchat have been excellent in April. I traded in my Carnival stock for Microsoft and Delta for more Amazon. Way up on Exxon and Chevron since I bought them. Palintir and CCIV looks like they both may have found a bottom and Palintir went way up today and into the green for me. Bought some etherem stock last Friday and that thing has been screaming higher. Wanted to buy dogecoin, but its not available on TD Ameritrade. Today was the best day I have ever had.
