Grand Canyon Bison Removal

Oh that would be fun.
Unless it turns into Cecil the tiger :)

Bison with my 45/70 would be my dream hunt. It would be great to shoot a 10-12 year old bull, I would save everything from it.
Our local Kroger’s sells bison meat, better tasting than beef.
Don’t know how good an old bull would taste, a 1 1/2 year old cow would be perfect for the freezer.

Dragging them out of the canyon would be the tough part! (Kidding)

I will apply. Sounds incredible.

Sounds like a cool hunt. My issue would be, what do i do if I shoot a 2200 lbs bull?

Wonder if there are guides?

What are the costs for the license and tag and the like? Any ideas?

It's not a hunt, it's a population control kill. 30cal+ bottleneck rounds (no 45-70!!), you shoot the animals they tell you to shoot, and hike the meat out. The you only get to keep some of it at the end, the rest goes to the tribes.

There is no license fee as it's not a hunt but a volunteer population reduction. I applied just for the experience -- really low odds, they got like 45,000 apps for 12 spots.
