Small cabin for the farm

Nice Job! Looks good!

Nice job!
I'd frame up gable end windows if you're planning on sleeping up there.
Something to let the heat out and offer daytime light.

Thanks everyone. Bill that's exactly what I did.

I'm further ahead than the thread and pictures, just updating as I get the time to post. :D

Just got around to this thread and that is a really nice small cabin. You will not be unhappy with the Hardiplank. I used it 16 years ago to side part of my house and it was great then and is even better now. I really really like your build and I am not the easiest person to please when it comes to building houses, cabins, commercial buildings or anything that someone builds. Great job again.

Dug down and lined the bottom edge with hardware cloth to keep the critters out. Double layer of vapor barrier and the floor went down.

Time for paint. Wanted a darker color so the commercial farming dust wouldn't show up.

Need some heat to stave off the lake effect winter climate.

You will cook yourself in that little house with that wood burner. Those things throw a lot of heat. I love those little blue flame propane or natural gas heaters. I have a propane one in my shop it is the only heat source and even in the dead of winter it takes less than 60 gallons of propane a month running 24 hrs a day.

Not when they keep opening the door to go outside and drain themselves of the booze they are indulging in during a lake effect blizzard.;)

That stove is from my 10x12 canvas wall tent. It will heat that place up quick, which is nice when you pull in at night when it's cold. I am installing a propane heater with a thermostat this year. I love the stove but I hate when I don't get the damper adjusted right and I wake up cold in the middle of the night.

And then there's this situation ^ o_O

Small cabin looks great. About how much $ do you have in it?

At the stage of the last picture above, it was about $1,800 in material. The windows were free, my dad had the two small ones stored in his garage and my buddy gave me the bigger one for the front. I already had the stove. My mom had that futon in a spare bedroom that never got used so that was donated also. A lot of the stuff is from Home Depot or Lowes & I get 10% military discount at both.

I decided to add an overhang for a place to get out of the weather and/or put equipment.
