Wow, apple porn, I love it!!

I had a few of those the last few years but it doesn't really effect the taste as far as I am concerned

It now says 20 here Saturday night and not 12 like 2 days ago predicted. Anyone seeing a better then forecasted Saturday night temp?

They are saying 18 here again!

Some of my HC's got so corky last year Paul you couldn't eat them. I had to throw out 50-70 bushel. SMH

Calling for 14 but now I have three nights in low 20's next week. Hopefully this week has kept everything dormant.

It is me again. The prediction is a low of 21 Saturday night! That is a record low here. I am still in the fetal position, but hanging on. Fire blight last year and now this. I have not been at the farm since Sunday, but will go up Sunday to take an inventory as to the various states of my trees. I was very optimistic when I saw Woodick's post, But 21 is really low for us in April!!!!!

With all this talk about frost and I know some of the members do not live near their trees , but of the members that do what if any frost prevention have you tried and in your opinion has it worked.

We purchased frost fans several years ago about 7 feet in dia. , fans run on tractor pto and use those along with round straw bales on end and light em up with a little diesel

25,26, 27 is one thing but, when it's getting down to under 18 there's not much you're going to be able to do. Going to be 16 here tomorrow night which is pretty rare for this time of year but, everything is budded pretty good by the first week o May and there's always a few frosts after that. Some years are better than others but, we always have apples.

Are you having any luck with that in early phenology stages w/ cold or just during bloom w/ frost? We burned the other night in areas in the orchards, but we still took a good hit. Where did you get the fans from? I did move air during bloom before by burning in a low area, it did cut down on the frost. The hot air rises and the cold air moves in to fill that air. I actually got that idea from a expert from Michigan State, I forget his name. He gave a talk over hear at a fruit tree growers meeting.

Last time I checked they were calling for 19 tonight and then a warming trend.

Grey wow that crab was really budding. I think I will lose some crab apples as mine were at1/2 green to tight cluster

Good news. I have been making fun of myself, but as long as we and are families are healthy
all will be fine regardless of whether we have fruit this year :)

We have been using the fans in the later stages of bloom , here we have a rolling landscape and it easy to push the air down hill , the reason for the purchase was 80 percent damage several years ago .

The fans came from phil brown mfg , Michigan , you can find them on line

We currently have no blooms out as far as greyphase , s photos

We had a warm 18 degrees last night which is a few degrees warmer than we've had lately. So far today the snow accumulation is approx. 1.5" with blizzard-like conditions. Is the saying, April blizzards bring May flowers?

Spur that's amazing that we are only 10 miles apart and my low last night was 25. I think we are supposed to hit 16 tonight and am hoping it doesn't go lower. I have some snow at my place too have a cam online to check
