Gyromitra... maybe esculenta? Poisonous in some parts of the world. Supposed to be safe here with proper cooking. Lots of locals call them beefsteak and say they taste good. I don't eat them.
I have eaten beafsteaks since childhood with no I'll effects. I agree they are considered poisonous in some regions, and should be consumed in small quantity.
